The conduct of the cashier today was quite concerning. She, in open forum, stated that I had not “placed the sweatshirt back on the rack correctly”. During our verbal exchange, she made remarks stating now that I “lacked decency and proper upbringing”, and that “I had no manners, which any other individual would have understood better”. This exchange occurred in front of my 11-year-old daughter, which made the situation even more troubling.
I also spoke with the manager of the store on the phone, who, although seemed to be compassionate, asked me “so what? should I fire her?”. I was a customer trying to make a purchase, not a job recruiter, and I am appalled that I would be asked such a question.
What’s even more concerning is that there are several one and two star google reviews of people that had similar or worse experiences than this with the staff of this store, that date back from recently to several years.
In all my years, this has never happened to me at any retail shop, restaurant, or anywhere.
I no less than insist that the corporate offices, (YM or whoever now owns Mande shops) contact me for further discussion on my disappointment with my experience as well as what they intend to do to appease my daughter, who has become completely distraught by this...
Read moreAlthough I love to shop at Mandees with my daughter where they offer her great options for affordable and trendy clothing, my last 2 visits there left me upset. Both times, we arrived about 25/30 mins before closing and I felt as if the red-headed woman (I believe she is a manager) was annoyed at our presence. On both occasions, she came up to my daughter and I informing us the store would be closing shortly. I was aware that the hours had changed and again, it was still during open hours. As a former retail manager, I would think she'd be grateful that I chose to come to their location to spend my hard earned money. Tonight, it felt as if she was following us around the store, hoping we would leave. After she approached us to remind us they'd be closing soon, we decided to leave the store without making a purchase. Again, I do really love this store but unsure if we will be returning. If we do go back, I hope our business is welcomed, regardless of our arrival time. Too many stores are going out of business for you to treat customers as if they are an annoyance. Read moreI suggest that you check the honesty of the current managers because today I was there and the employees charge the same price of cheaper garments and when making the changes they return or notify you that you have more credit remaining they only retain it and I assume that at the end of the day they take it out of the box and keep it because that should not be legal. And I'm sure because I asked her and all she said is that the store doesn't bring money back but she didn't intend to tell me that she could get a store card or some other product She just kept it and took away the two receipts she had previously given me.
