Went here yesterday for their Cinco de Mayo celebration, and I’m glad we did! Starting at 6p they had a Mexican mariachi band, and it was such good entertainment.
The restaurant was packed as you would expect on this day, but the service was phenomenal. It didn’t matter whose table we were assigned to, everyone helped in all different stages of our meal.
We started off with a coconut margarita and a peach margarita. They were good and you could taste the alcohol that put in there. The second and third coconut margarita came with real coconut in the drink, and that definitely was a seller for us.
They start off with fresh made tortilla chips and homemade salsa. The salsa was fresh and great flavor, however if you can handle even a tiny bit of spice, I wouldn’t have it. It got hotter the more you ate it.
We ordered their ‘alitas con chipotle’ which is their chicken wings, and oh goodness they were great. Only thing I have to say is they are double fried and on the smaller side, but their chipotle sauce was the best sauce I’ve ever tasted in my life. It is on the hotter side, but to me personally it was not too bad, the the flavor was bursting in my mouth. We actually ordered another side of the sauce for the wings because it was practically drinkable as is, and then another side for our entrees.
We ordered ‘camarones caribeños’ which is their coconut shrimp with fries and salad. The coconut shrimp had appeared to be burnt when it was set on the table, however they weren’t and it was delicious. We dipped the coconut shrimp into the chipotle sauce… and that is what this place should offer with this dish. The sweet and savory together really burst in your mouth. The fries were typical fries, soft and could’ve been fried a tad more. We also ordered their ‘fajitas en Sartén’ with chicken. It came out sizzling with green peppers, onions, and tomatoes with a plate of guacamole, refried beans, rice and sour cream. We poured the chipotle sauce on the fajitas, and once again, we were baffled with the taste fusion.
We loved this sauce so much that I told our waitress that I would buy the sauce if they were willing to sell it to me. I asked her to give me however much she could, and she gave me 4oz.
We additionally ordered the ‘flan de tres leches’ and it tasted like a flan, and less like tres leches.
Overall, would come back here in...
Read moreI Love This Place!!! My wife Donna and I would frequent the old Meson Ole about once a month. Our favorite waitress, Nora, was a loyal employee and manager for almost 30yrs. She was such a hard worker, and was passionate about the restaurant. However, it was obvious to us that the business was struggling, yet Nora would great us with a warm welcome and outstanding service. We were sad to see Meson Ole close down, and wondered what would become of Nora, and her staff. One day, back in September of 2014, we saw Nora standing outside the old Meson Ole with the building owner and some contractors. She told us that she was investing her own money into renovating the building inside and out, and would be re-opening her very own restaurant called Plaza Margarita. We were so happy for her, and promised to be there for the grand opening. It was a huge success, and we saw alot of familiar customers that came to support Nora. We usually are there every weekend with our best friends Kevin and Veronica. We are always greeted with a warm welcome, and have gotten to know the entire staff. The food and service is always great. The margaritas are outstanding, they are the best I have ever tasted! The bartenders Clara and Melissa are the best! We have gotten to know some of their family, friends, and regular customers. Plaza Margarita has become our "Cheers"! I could go on about the fresh renovation, friendly staff, ect., why don't you stop buy this weekend...
Read moreI am unsure as to what restaurant these reviews are referring to. The restaurant I visited earlier this evening had as many redeeming qualities as stars in this review. The Coronitas and their house hot sauce. Having been there a week before my father suggested this restaurant for its appealing happy hour special and decent appetizers. We were later informed that the prices of said happy hour special had gone up and both waiters were particularly eager to remind us of this (rather rudely and loudly) only to be immediately overridden by (I’m assuming) their manager. Followed by a pity party of apologies. All of this honestly I would be tempted to overlook if the food was above par. I ordered the fajitas myself and could tell immediately that they were cooked separately and just thrown on a hot pan for effect. The seasoning on the skirt steak was essentially non-existent. You’d think with how much steam is coming off the skillet that the meat and vegetables would be nice and charred and cooked through, however the veggies along with the beef were chewy and undercooked. I had to rely on the hot sauce to get any flavor whatsoever from what I ordered. I didn’t take any pictures because nothing I was served was even remotely photo-worthy in terms of presentation. In addition, the waitstaff leaves much to be desired. I will not be returning to this establishment as there is a superior restaurant...
