My wife and I spent 3 ½ years of the best years of our lives at Rivers Pointe. Moved in Jan 2015 after getting married Dec 2014 and sadly moved out of state in June 2018. I’ve lived all over the country and some parts in the world, but this was my absolute favorite place to live. I will forever appreciate the times we had at Rivers Pointe, but I will forever be sad they are over. We visited some friends Oct 2018 and took a stroll around the neighborhood, reminiscing when we lived there. I wholeheartedly miss it and am shocked by some of the bad reviews. I’m sorry their experiences were so different from ours.
We went through a lot of change in management and staff, but always enjoyed living here despite some managers not being as good as others. What never changed was how quickly and effectively the property crew addressed issues in our apartment. It was so refreshing to know if there was ever a problem, they would be on it quickly. And we loved how on point they were with plowing the snow. I once got the car stuck in a pile of snow (I was still getting used to driving in upstate NY in the winter) and the crew pulled my car out within minutes. Just a great bunch of guys. Always said “hi” too. And I am not sure about nowadays, but Rivers Pointe used to be very active at trying to bring the community together. Residents could form their own interest groups, like knitting, and they would meet at the community center. Rivers Pointe used to hang these newsletters on everyone’s doorknobs about a variety of things, such as the phone numbers for potential babysitters in the community, announcements about special events like community yard sales in the main parking lot, furniture for sale from other residents, and updates on anything and everything going on in the community.
The units were nice. Carpeted, so sound did not travel. I barely heard our neighbors at all. Spacious. We got some good natural sunlight. AC and heat worked well. The showers are eco-friendly, which was a nice touch. Having laundry in the actual units was a rarity in the area at the time, so we loved that. Security was good. There are no actual security guards, but the buildings were not easily accessible to those without key fobs. Speaking of security, we had no issues with crime. There was one incident where cars were “broken into,” but we later found out that the cars broken into were the ones that left their doors unlocked. Ample parking too. Never had an issue with guest parking during big get-togethers.
The gym is acceptable. I personally wish it were bigger with more equipment, but I got into good shape with what they had. The pool was fun when in season. There is a movie theater, which we never took advantage of, but they had events like a Star Wars marathon when The Force Awakens came out. When working from home, my wife would use their business conference room (open to the community), which had printers and Wi-Fi. Very nice.
And one of the best things is the convenience of location. Wegmans, Walmart, Pets Mart, Target, gas stations, Home Dept, barbershops, auto shops, a theater, etc. are all right there! Some of which you can comfortably walk to and the community is tucked away from all these businesses and the busyness of it all, so traffic is not an issue in or around the neighborhood. I’ve never lived in such a convenient location.
We would suggest 1) do more to enforce the speed limit on that main stretch of road, 2) find a way to make the neighborhood more friendly for those of us who like to take walks, and 3) develop a playground for kids. Too many kids played dangerously in the parking lots and I am sure they were a nuisance to some when they played so close to the buildings, 4) enforce standards in the community center. The last few months I was at Rivers Pointe, there was one resident in particular who regularly messed up the gym (flipped benches, left weights everywhere). Those of us who regularly went to the gym knew who it was, but management at the time did not do anything meaningful to stop it up until...
Read moreIf I could give this “community” 0 I would. I have a 4 year old and wanted to be sure it would be safe for her. most certainly was the highest priced however it SEEMED to have lots to offer. A pool, tanning booth, gym, rec. area, movie theater room. Mostly the pool bc my daughter absolutely loves summing and anything to do with water. I found 2 bedroom online, had a tough time getting a hold of anyone in the office, should have been the first sign. Finally after waiting 3days, someone finally sent me a video of the apartment as this was when covid just hit and were not aloud to look in person. She sent me the video at 4:30pm, office closes at 5. 9am the next day I told her I wanted it she did the lease agreement, it was $400 a month more than what was on THEIR WEBSITE. I asked why is the price dif. She stated it was “market based pricing”. Seriously, it hadn’t even been 24 hrs and raised $400! I brushed it off and ended up getting a smaller aprt. that was not on the ground floor like I wanted. I figured with covid everything was a mess and confusion so got over it. After moving in.. eh the smell that would come out of the drains after doing laundry or dishes was horrendous to the point I couldn’t even be in the aprt. The lady said it’s bc of sitting water it’ll go away well it didn’t. I ended up reaching out to the prev. renter through fb. She said that happened to her and had to continuously dump hot water down the drains every 3 days. which I still currently have to do. the ac would not work. called maintenance, they came and “fixed it” 2x, while leaving the ac on 55 all day for 3 days in a row without it working which made my electric bill sky rocket. I informed them it STILL was not fixed, they ended up replacing the whole unit. The prev. Renter said she didn’t have ac all summer and they kept coming to “fix” it. The shower head was so clogged it drizzled out of the head, I had to purchase a new one. I been here for just over 6 months and had to replace 6 Light bulbs. They are led and a specific kind which are not cheap. Since The day I moved in the bathroom sink drain clogs and takes forever to drain. This is just the start people! Cable and WiFi is included in rent but it took almost 2 months for the WiFi info bc they lost it and said they couldn’t get a hold of spectrum. You get 2 cable boxes, one of which still does not connect 6 months later! I stated I specifically picked this place for the safety and the pool for my daughter. After NYS approved for the pool to open they posted the hours, I picked up my daughter told her the pool was finally open and we were going to go when we got home. She was so excited! Jumping up and down, get there, there is a sign on the pool stating it was closed due to them not having a life guard .. okay now I’m livid bc my little girl was absolutely crushed, they posted pool hours the day before in the building now it’s closed bc of their issues.. I wrote and email to the “community director” .. no response. I call and left 3 vm’s.. no response.. I get an email from an Alex stating he is the new community director. I replied and forwarded on the previous email I sent. He apologized and stated he would like the chance to make my experience here better. I inquired on terminating my lease early with no penalty. I am in a 1 yr lease and 6 months in.. keep in mind.. they offer 6 month leases.. however he stated he couldn’t do that and informed me the pool would be back open next season... hm. excuse me.. my lease is up in April so that is completely irrelevant to me but thanks for the Info? He told me he wanted to change my experience but refused to do anything at all for me, I inquired on discount from rent which is 1,110 for a 1bdrm from lack of utilizing the amenities. He had no comment on it.. seriously people stay away from this place nothing but a headache and run around. Worst management I have ever seen and aprts most certainly NOT WORTH WHAT YOU PAY! They will inform you to call with concerns and when you do no one answers...
Read moreWe could not say enough great things about our experience so far at Rivers Pointe Apartments. From the moment we first inquired about the property, we felt welcomed, supported, and genuinely valued. Jarell met with my fiancé for the initial tour and truly made the entire experience seamless—from walking us through the different apartment layouts to patiently answering every single one of my fiancé’s questions throughout the visit. He never made us feel rushed or like a burden, which is so rare and so appreciated.
Jarell’s kindness and professionalism were even more evident when our situation unexpectedly changed. Initially, we planned to move in without pets, but due to a change in life circumstances, we needed to take in my late father's two cats. This could have been a stressful hurdle, but instead, Jarell handled it with such empathy and understanding. He reassured us that we were still welcome and made sure we felt supported every step of the way. His warmth made what could have been a stressful transition feel manageable and even comforting.
The apartment itself is beautiful. We’re especially grateful for the spacious layout and the options that were shown to us so we could find the one that truly suited our lifestyle. It’s rare to feel like your needs are actually considered, but that’s exactly what happened here.
When we moved in, we did notice that the apartment wasn’t as clean as we had expected. However, both Jarell and Will addressed our concerns immediately and with the utmost respect. Within minutes, a cleaner was sent to assist, and both Jarell and Will made it very clear that our comfort and satisfaction mattered to them. They listened, acknowledged the issue without hesitation, and resolved it swiftly. It wasn't just about fixing the problem—it was the way they did it: with genuine care, urgency, and kindness. That kind of service is rare, and it meant the world to us.
Beyond the apartment itself, the complex has been such a wonderful place to call home. The location is incredibly convenient—close to several stores and everything we need. The amenities like the pool and gym are great, but more than anything, it’s the people who have made this place feel special. Jarell and Will are personable, attentive, and truly care about the residents here.
My fiancé was originally hesitant about living in a larger apartment complex. He worried we might feel like “just a number” rather than people with real needs and expectations. But thanks to Jarell and Will, that worry was completely erased. They’ve gone above and beyond in every interaction and made us feel like we matter—not just as tenants, but as people. That has made all the difference.
We are genuinely so happy to be here. Thank you, Jarell and Will, for being the best part of Rivers Pointe. Your dedication, empathy, and professionalism have truly made this...
