I do not post this review lightly as I like to support local business and I'd heard positive things before visiting. But it was very disappointing. I visited on a Friday, which is normally the best day to buy fish Out East as they get fresh stuff for the weekend. That was not the case. Even the tuna and swordfish -- which are brought in literally a few miles away -- were not fresh as all. The swordfish was beginning to smell and had the mealy texture of several day old fish. We bought a dozen oysters, of which only seven were edible. One was rank even before opening, two were yellow slimy and clearly dead, and two were fused together so unable to even be opened. Please see the attached photo lest you think I'm exaggerating. The inclusion of the fused oysters is particularly disappointing. Obviously these were not usable but were included anyway. It would be one thing if we'd gotten several dozen and these two snuck by. But when you're counting out only 12, either you don't know what you are doing, or you just don't care. With several other great options in the area, we won't...

I’m officially done with Stuart’s Seafood Market. This is the second time I’ve bought steamers from them, and once again, they were completely rotten—the kind of smell that hits you immediately, like literal garbage. There’s no excuse for selling shellfish in that condition.
What’s most frustrating is that Stuart’s used to be amazing. They had a reputation for quality and freshness. Now? It’s clear the standards have dropped off a cliff. Either no one is checking the product, or they just don’t care anymore. Either way, it’s a disgrace, and honestly, a health hazard.
I’ll be taking my business elsewhere—and I’d recommend others do the same until they get their...
Read moreI'm very disappointed to have to post this review. We've been going to Stuart's for years to get the freshest fish and shellfish. But this year, my mom bought scallops for dinner, and they were abysmal. They were old, clearly flushed with water to look fresher, and not the quality one expects from Stuart's. Looking at the other reviews, the new owners are not keeping to the quality one expected and experienced with the original owners. We will no longer be going to Stuart's for our seafood. We'll look to other local stores or Citarella where you can expect and get quality seafood. I recommend you...
