Honestly can’t believe I even have to write this. We don’t usually come to this theater, but they were showing Longlegs and our regular spot in Redhook wasn’t. We’d looked at the reviews before hand about the seats, how dirty it was, etc and decided it was no big deal, it was under new ownership so we brushed it off and went. We get our popcorn and our drinks and go watch our movie. We commented on how good the popcorn was and had just about finished the bag halfway through the movie. My fiancé passed me the last of the popcorn and as I tipped the bag back into my mouth I felt something slightly larger than a popcorn kernel hit my teeth. I spit it out and it’s a rock. When the movie ends, I bring the bag and the rock up to the concessions stand fully planning to just let them know. I too am in customer service and certainly don’t go out of my way to make someone’s day harder. The kid behind the counter sat on their phone the whole time, so the woman at the ticket booth came out to help me- who I now know was the manager. All I said to her (quietly I might add) was “I just want to let you know I found this in the bottom of our popcorn. I don’t want anything out of it, I just want you to be aware.” Not only am I in customer service, but I am ALSO a manager and if someone were to bring a health concern to me ESPECIALLY if they aren’t asking for their money back I would be apologizing profusely and asking if they were okay but that thought never seemed to cross this woman’s mind. Right out of the gate, I catch the fattest attitude I’ve ever received in my whole life. It really caught me off guard because I was not being loud or nasty to this woman. She just kept repeating “I don’t know how that would’ve gotten in there” progressively louder with this stupid smirk on her face like I was making this up for fun. It takes a lot to push me to getting angry, but by the time my fiancé came out of the bathroom to join me I was absolutely fuming. She had absolutely zero concern, zero apologies, zero solutions, nothing. I called her some choice words and left. When I explained what happened out at the truck, my partner went back inside to take care of it. I wasn’t there to witness, but from what he said she was equally disrespectful to him if not more so. Ultimately he came back out with $9 and change which is nice, but was never the point of me mentioning it. I feel bad he even had to get involved. It should’ve never escalated past “I’m so sorry that happened, are you alright? Thank you for letting me know I’ll look into it.” I have a farm, I’m well aware things sometimes make their way into crops that we don’t intend on, but that doesn’t mean you treat it like it’s no big deal there’s A ROCK IN THEIR FOOD. We avoid Hudson like the plague to begin with but I promise we will never be back here. Save yourself the worry about the filth, (and now the popcorn) as well as the disrespect and just drive to Lyceum. This place and the people working in it are disgusting. If I never see this theater or the broad you have mismanaging it again it’ll be too soon. I sincerely hope she has the life she deserves.
Ps- turn the lights off during the movie, it’s...
Read moreThe theatre is trying its best to improve and adjust to its audience needs. I was in theatre 2 and the seat where a much better then a few years back picture quality was good sound was nice and loud theatre was cool prices are much more affordable . I feel they do have a lot of space there they could use with games attractions or tables to talk with your friends about your movie experience maybe give them opportunities for more concession sales. The food selection is a lot better then it was a few years back popcorn is fresh drinks aren't flat and there selection is good for people like my self avoiding soda drinks. Hopefully they add some hotdogs in the future and maybe a coffee bar for us folks who want that caffeinated boost through the movie . Let support this theatre and let's make sure our feed back is beneficial so they can take away some ideas and grow. My to feedback on things to improve on would be I felt the crew was plentiful but could you a training refresher despite arriving early by the time I got all my food and drinks etc it felt like arriving last minute to the theatre . Now the theatre was busy big movie launch so it's understandable and some employees could of been new. But I feel there turn around time should be 5 ish minute for customers but it took around 15 minutes . They were courteous and helpful and being busy is not there fault but expanding there training could lead to them learning more efficient technique to better the company . Overall i hope they continue to grow and make money the new chairs are a great start let's support them and get those carpets fixed yet we can do...
Read moreI've been going to this theater for decades and I'm sad to say the service and quality has really gone downhill since the new ownership. Our first movie once we started going to theaters again in 2022 there was a rude sign visible in the office that the ticket vendor sits in. Every visit since the staff is apathetic at best if not outright rude. We saw a movie recently where we had to get up and close the doors ourselves to stop the light from washing out the screen because staff never came by at the start of the movie to shut them. One movie was very dark and the sound was off, no one would fix it. The chairs are dirty, the floor is dirty, and the ladies room was gross when we saw Barbie.
Unfortunately the fantastic small theater in Catskill went out of business with the pandemic or we'd never set foot in Spotlight again, otherwise we'd have to drive to Albany or Kingston. Spotlight is hit or miss now instead of being a reliable mainstay, so keep that in mind when deciding on whether you want to see the movie locally or drive to a...
