Turn The Page Used Book Store — Local services in Town of Hamburg

I'd drive 45 minutes for a book hug--and I do.

There are a lot of reasons to love Hamburg, NY--but at the top of my list is Turn the Page Used Books, a charming little haven where the books are used, the prices are kind, and the smell of paper and stories hits you in the face like a warm, nostalgic high-five.

Once upon a time, I lived just 6 minutes from this gem. Now I live 45 minutes away, and I still make the trip. Why? Because walking into this place is my version of therapy. Yes, I'm the weirdo who openly sniffs the books. No, I'm not sorry.

The selection is outstanding. I won't swear they have every genre under the sun, but I will say I've never left empty-handed--and I read everything from thoughtful nonfiction to weird fiction to "why is this cover so dramatic?" suspense novels. They've also got a fantastic large print section, which makes me look like a great daughter when I stock up for my mom. (Let's ignore that I walk out with twice as many for myself.)

The staff? Lovely. Friendly. Helpful. Basically your dream book club, minus the pressure to finish the book on time. If you're into books and warm vibes, you're already one of the gang.

It was a somewhat confusing experience for a first visit. I didn't know anybody was working there until someone else found the girl to check them out. I wouldn't have known she was the clerk unless they did that. The prices are reasonable for a physical store front, and the selection was decent. Checkout also was confusing because the girl counted some items as comics and others that seemed like they should be comics as pocket books. I asked for an explanation but didn't really get one. I'm not mad because it was still cheap, but I would have liked a better explanation and a receipt. Good thing this was a personal purchase and not a tax write-off. Overall, I would give them...

Stopped by here on a recommendation from family I was visiting in the area. What an awesome shop. The amount of books fit in here and organized in the space is pretty awesome. In addition to that the clerk (owner perhaps?) was really helpful. Pleasant greeting and knows the stock really well, searched for something for me and answered tons of questions and finds for other patrons coming in. Prices are also great, what you'd expect for a used book store and really simple just based on paperback hardback type of category. Also they do take any card payment without minimums by the way.
