Marc, Steve, and their crew ran an estate sale and clean out for me in Nassau this past September. Everything went as expected. They were clear on pricing, our estate's expenses, and expectations. The sale ran for two separate days. My objective was to get my uncle's home ready to put up on the market, while not letting useful or worthwhile items end up in storage, or worse yet, the dump. The house was packed. There was A LOT of stuff, and a lot of valuable collector's items. For me to try to nitpick and sell things off would have taken a decade. Marc and Steve took pictures, gave an assessment, and were within the ballpark of what I figured the items would sell for. They had a total of 4 people working the first day of my sale, and 3 on the second. Day of the sales there was a line of people waiting for the door to open before start time. Seemed like they had a running group of regulars, but they had signs up at major intersections (Hempstead TPK and the side streets) on the days of sales, so there was foot traffic relatively throughout the time they were running it. They know how to get things moving quickly. One of Marc's employees, Carlo was a particularly thoughtful, warm, and helpful gentleman, who was dealing with a lot of buyer interaction and re-organizing things as people moved things around. Steve was pricing people out and on particular items that I was unsure of selling they checked in with me to see if pricing was ok, which I appreciated. He was fair to the buyers, but was still client centric for sure. Marc was doing oversight, keeping account of sales. A clearly experienced female employee was resetting rooms and pricing on clothing and homewares. When cleanup time came, things moved like clockwork - dumpster, cleanup crew showed up, and the way the house was left was as on point. They did a great job. Overall, I had a great experience working with Marc, Steve, and their crew. I would work with them again. They also are great with communication. Marc always got back me. It wasn't an easy time for me on a personal level, but they took on a big task and did a great job. I would recommend them to anyone who is in need of...
Read moreDishonest and disrespectful is how I would describe my experience with Mark's Unique Antiques. They brought NO equipment, no tables or racks, not even a pad to write on for my estate sale. There were only TWO men to man an entire 4 BR, 3 story home with yard and garage filled with 60 years of collectibles. They claim they have men in every room of your home, and show a security guard on their website...not true. They initially came through the house, snapped photos and told me what a few items may sell for but that there was not enough for a full day sale and it would cost 3500.00 plus tax for the sale, dumpster and clean out. I did not have a good feeling about Mark or Steve and should have followed my instinct and read more of the bad reviews prior to hiring them. They promised to advertise and put up flyers in the neighborhood. I saw none, only on their website.
On the morning of the sale before we even started, Mark and Steve were arguing about money and Mark left never to return. At the end of the very disorganized and hectic morning, MANY items were stolen and unaccounted for. After several emails in which I presented MY list of those dozens of items, Mark and Steve got on a phone call with me and admitted that things "must have walked out the door". They said "that was to be expected"! I would never have imagined that! Why should I?Collectibles, autographed photos, cameras, other expensive items were gone. It was apparently a "free for all" and their reseller clients; the people who they are really holding these sales for. Flowers were ripped out of garden pots and I was appalled at how disrespectful people were. There was a blatant disregard for my items, many sold for a pennies on a dollar, many more stolen, destroyed and thrown in a dumpster. This was not expected and I ended up with a big bill, a small credit, an argument and lost collectibles. What they deserve is to end up with a law suit for negligence, misrepresentation and loss of personal memorabilia. My realtor, who referred them, was informed to NEVER refer them to anyone again. They are...
Read moreIf you wanna sell at eBay prices, then sell on eBay, itâs that simple. Do not scam people at estate sales by trying to sell an item to them for $5 less than what itâs worth on eBay. Had to wait and track him down at a sale after being yelled at that he was the only one doing prices. He then proceeded to look at my items that I dug for and found (he clearly didnât even know it was in the inventory of the the estate sale) and told me to wait until he ran eBay comps so that he could give me a price for them. I then actually had to help him run the eBay comps as he only knew how to scan the barcode on eBay. He wanted $5 less than what was sold on eBay. If you want to sell it at that price, do the work like the rest of us and search/find/list/store/package & send out the item on eBay. An over priced scammer with a staff that is rude and not aware of what theyâre selling until you actually find it at their sale so they can run comps on it. I wish I knew not to waste my time to go to this sale. Advertise that youâre selling at eBay prices and maybe youâll get the customers youâre...
