Stop & Shop — Local services in Town of Hempstead

Saturday February 24th 2024, it saddens me to write this negative review, went to the deli department for a few deli items, and was verbally attacked and discriminated against, the 2 workers was very rude and aggressive. The lady curse at me called me a effing man I don’t know why she thought that would hurt my feelings. I’m saddened because I always thought Stop & Shop was LGBTQ friendly, APPARENTLY NOT😢, ordered some wonder bar baloney, and the worker whom already was visibly upset for some reason proceeds to slice the meat did not cut the first couple of slices off the roll, because the first couple of slices was brown, and the rest of the meat was red, but he bagged it up and handed it to me anyway, so I opened it took the brown slices out, handed it to the worker and then they got upset over it. The guy told me what do you think I don’t know how to do my job, never said anything to him about it,then the lady says “ these people “ and makes rude and yell’s profanity remarks to me, effing this and effing that and told me I should take my business elsewhere, wow unbelievable treatment, then she tells her coworker. Oh, she’s just mad because I called her a man. What the heck is that about trust me I’m not mad about being miss gendered, I’m very secure and comfortable with whom I am. The discrimination was just unbelievable in this day and age. I cannot believe this woman was carrying on saying derogatory discriminating things to me and the store was packed a line of customers. I’m sure everyone online was astonished with her behavior, it saddens me after 20 years shopping in this store that I’ve got treated like this on a Saturday morning I proceeded to go to the manager to follow a complaint and all the manager can offer to help me to re-slice my meat really do you really think I want to patronize and spend my money in a place where I was just verbally abused and attacked and discriminated against no way so if I can give the Stop & Shop, no stars I would but the one is the lowest rating the store has really gone down since the shooting unbelievable the workers are way too aggressive. They need sensitivity training and management your team should never ever ever disrespect customers regardless what’s going on? That is not Customer Care or...

I worked here for less than a year and had to quit because of one manager here, Earnest. Lindsay is great and always helpful. Earnest on the other hand, is incredibly rude and entitled. He is the sole reason I quit on the spot. I had to change my schedule from open availability to mornings only. Because they are consistently short staffed, I was spread between 3 departments. When I had a concern, I had to unfortunately speak to Earnest. He was so disrespectful that I gave my two weeks. Then he made some snide comments so right then and there I decided to never come back as an employee after that day. He does not care how much you do, he also didn't even seem aware that I was bounced between 3 departments. Which just goes to show his level of "professionalism". He does as little as possible and never faces consequences, yet I'm supposed to accept his attitude? I have never had a problem with any other manager or coworker. It's a miracle no one has noticed his incompetence yet. So now, the store is down one employee that they couldn't afford to lose because he wanted to feel big & important. This is the Super Stop n Shop that has almost everything! There is a florist inside, along with Starbucks, a bakery & a deli inside this Great big grocery store! There are many self serve registers besides many cashier registers. I like using self serve which sometimes requires the assistance of one of the sales associates, who happens to be Dawn whenever I go there. She is very nice & very helpful, which is one of the many reasons why I go to this store & like this store. Today she helped me when the register said I needed assistance by a work associate, and on my way out I saw she had cookies, my favorite! Dawn told me the Stop n shop just got these new chocolate marshmallow oreo cookies & asked of I wanted one! So nice of her to do this! She got me hooked! This cookie is Awesome!!!!
