I'm all for seeing a failing store make it. But after my visit this morning, I completely understand WHY they're failing and some stores have already closed. The customer service at this location is nonexistent! Only one checkout lane was open ON A SUNDAY MORNING! And that was an Express checkout for 15 or less items! So that left me with no choice but to use the self checkout for about 20 items. Ugh!!! Too many for Express and, in my opinion, too many for self checkout! The self checkout experience was frustrating to say the least! The scanner kept requiring assistance from an attendant, who was in no rush to help me whatsoever!! She was apathetic at best! After numerous attempts and fails to checkout, and her rudeness and lack of customer service, I was close to leaving my groceries there and going to Wegmans. Until a nice, friendlier attendant "relieved" the female. Still I had to ask for his assistance as my register was still malfunctioning. After I finished, thankfully the register had better customer service skills than the employees, and thanked me for shopping at Tops. Whew! I was finally done after double the amount of time it should've taken to check out!!!! What a frustrating way to start the day! I witnessed an older customer attempt to self checkout with a register that was doing the same thing as mine. Fix your self checkout, open more regular checkout other than Express and teach your employees better customer service! Read moreI don't normally shop at Tops, but I stopped in today around noon to pick up a handful of things.The Tops on East Ridge Rd. Near Carter St. Rochester, NY. RUDDEST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER!!! And, no, I am not a "Karen". I'm a typical customer. I went up to the register, started putting my things on the belt. The cashier didn't even notice my presence. No greeting of any sorts. She was too busy on her phone. Well, whatever. I told her I needed paper bags, I got an eyeroll. I only had 2 bags worth of items. Everything was thrown in the bags totally haphazardly, still not a single word spoken from her. When it was completed, she literally tossed the receipt to me and went back to her phone. No goodbye, she didn't speak one single word. Like I said before, I'm not a "Karen". But this was the worst service I have ever had at any grocery store ever. At least acknowledge your customers! I'm not asking for a red carpet. But at least a hi/hello would be nice. And please don't throw all my items in bags like your taking out the garbage. Very disappointed with this location. Went to try to pick up some money that was sent to me ($200) and they stated that they couldn’t give me the money because they just was opened and all the cash they had on hand was in the cashier’s drawer. I explained then you should state that on the website/internet don’t come in at 8 am when you open because we don’t have any cash on hand. We will have funds by this time. The cashier told me that sounds like a corporate thang as she rolled her eyes and you should talk to them. I explained that they were a vendor and that if they don’t have cash on hand for people’s transactions then they should state that on their website and also your attitude is poor and you’re very rude and unprofessional and walked away.
