My girlfriend and I drove 17 mins for national donut day after seeing free donuts advertised on their Facebook page, no purchase necessary. Of all the donut places, my girlfriend told me they were the best in Rochester.
Waited in a line out the door, okay no problem. There were no signs or indications about national donut day, so we asked when it was our turn to double check. We were told we could get a free fry cake and then quite impatiently and repeatedly asked what we wanted. My girlfriend and I asked about donuts which apparently weren’t fry cakes (forgive our donut ignorance), but without explaining this, they went into a bag, and we were asked again and again what else we wanted. I apologized and reiterated that we’d come in hope of a free donut, and she started listing out every kind of fry cake quite rapidly and aggressively. It seemed pretty clear that even though free donuts were advertised, we weren’t meant to come just expecting that. By the time we got to the register we were somehow being charged for 3 donuts.
After the initial lady huffed and went back to work I apologized to the cashier and said I was confused about the whole situation. She seemed somehow confused that we were hoping to get a free donut. Maybe I’m just a cheapskate, but if something is advertised as free, I don’t expect to walk away paying for 3 donuts that we...
Read moreI used Ridge Donuts for our gender reveal. Sadly the surprise was told to me inadvertently when I picked up my order.
I showed up a week prior told them the importance of keeping it secret. I handed them a form with the gender on it written by our doctor.
On the day of the reveal I picked up the donuts. After waiting another thirty minutes to pick up an order I had already placed (I tried calling back line to only be left on hold) I was handed a box with an order that had “girl” circled.
When we went home the donuts themselves had pink sprinkles all over the top. We had requested blue and pink sprinkles so we could find out gender when we ate the donut.
I tried calling manager - about a week later i got a voicemail offering an apology and some donuts. Appreciated apology but there’s really no way to fix this. I post this now (a few months later) because I recently saw this business was still doing gender reveal donuts. While I generally only do positive reviews I felt others whom elect to use this company aught to know what occurred here.
I will say Ridge has some of my favorite donuts but unfortunately the level of incompetence that led to this experience makes me never want to go here again. I post this simply as a...
Read moreWe could not be any happier with our choice to have Ridge Donut Cafe cater our wedding. We decided to have donuts instead of cake, and it was a hit at the wedding.
From the start of the process to the end, the staff at Ridge Donut Cafe were so amazing to work with. It is a family owned business starting with Grandma Josephine, her son Richard Marcello and granddaughter Jackie Marcello. I mostly worked with Jackie in the planning process, and she went above and beyond to make sure that the selection of donuts and decorations were exactly what we wanted. They have done many weddings in the past so they know how to predict how many donuts are needed based on how many guests.
We had a donut wall (which we rented from Ridge Donut along with the order), acrylic pegs with donuts stacked, and also platters which we had filled donuts and our donut cake!! Let me tell you these donuts are the best I’ve ever eaten (buttermilk is my favorite), and our guests LOVED them and even started eating them early before they were supposed to! If you’re considering having donuts for an event, look no further. Thank you to the Ridge Donut Cafe team for making our vision come to life and filling us up with...
