The pricing on groceries is fair. Especially the meat. There was only one concern of mine when my husband and i went into this supermarket last Sunday and a male came walking in not too long after we arrived. We were waiting in the fish department cause we ordered fish and this man who walked in wasn’t wearing his mask properly at all it was completely under his chin and he was coughing in his hands and touching the food there. None of the employees who witnessed this among my husband and i said anything to the man just stared in shock. My husband and i got really grossed out and hurried out of there. We let a security guard there know and by his facial expression and body language i wasn’t really sure if he understood us. But he did go over to where we told him the man was and we didn’t see him again at all before leaving the store. I hope they took care of it and told the man to leave because with what’s going on in this world nowadays i think that was absolutely disgusting and horrifying to witness. As if he was trying to intentionally get people sick. I would stay clear of here until this virus blows...
Read moreThe staff is pleasant (they even tolerate my poor Spanish when they speak English just fine), the premises are clean and well-stocked. Gala's demographic is primarily Hispanic because you don't find desserts for Anglo-Saxon gluttons like me on their shelves with a few exceptions. Goya rules supreme with a large shelf frontage with canned goods, desserts, and the like. There are cookies and pineapple galletas and whatnot with long shelf life. You will have no clue what the aforementioned items cost until the checkout line. There are no tags nor imprints on the packaging displaying any price at all. The shelves are equally devoid of giving its customers any hints. I have been to this store dozens of times from the previous owners until the present managerial operation. Their practice has not changed and it seems to be reasonable and customary among its loyal customers.
In the meat section you may find a fine sirloin steak and perhaps chicken feet or gizzards as well. The store is full...
Read moreI like gala because of their fair pricing, and they normally have items that are pretty diverse culturally, but as of lately idk what’s going on. Produce and some foods are expired or just gone bad. Example I bought a milk and the milk said June 25th 2023 but when I opened it it was bad like already clumping and it was only June 3rd. I started noticing the fruit was moldy as I shopped in the store. I ALMOST bought 2 salads until I realized on the line that the lettuce was brown and bad in BOTH the bags. So idk what’s going on but their quality in food went down. It’s not fresh anymore. They still put it out knowing and seeing for themselves what’s going on. Maybe it’s this location...
