Kandice and Aaron are incredibly knowledgeable about their inventory and always have thoughtful recommendations for plant care and selecting the perfect greenery for your space. As an artist, I’ve also had the pleasure of hosting my clay workshops in their beautifully curated store. They’re highly organized, making collaboration effortless. Their keen eye for design shines through in their stunning selection of plants, home goods, and plant-adjacent treasures. Plus, they’re dedicated to supporting small businesses by showcasing and promoting a variety of handcrafted products. Growinshade is truly a gem in Islip.

I had joined for a ceramics class and it was so nice! I was running late due to work and as soon as I walked in from across the room I was greeted with a warm and bright welcome from the owner Kandice. My worries or being late went completely away. That warm feeling continued the throughout the night as a group of positive people made planters together, drank some wine and ate fruits, cheese, crackers and sweets (all supplied by the place by the way). The instructor was amazing and really helped and instructed each person on how to bring their vision to life. The store itself had such a nice feeling and the plants all looked so healthy and happy! I had a really wonderful time at a birthday party hosted here. The owner (Kandice) was helpful, thoughtful, and helped me pick out three new plants which have been thriving. I have waited so long for a Monstera and it brings me joy every day. She answered every question I had even while the birthday party was going on (and thank you! Sorry for a million questions!) The store is so sweet and well done, and it’s so obvious that so much love and care has been put into every part. Theres even a wall where you can take/leave a cutting for propagation.
