Heard great things about this store so I stopped in. Now, I can be hard to deal with sometimes ( just ask my wife, lol) and I tend to have high expectations. What I experienced at Marlene & Phil's just blew my mind. Where did these people come from?? This is THE most knowledgeable vitamin store staff I have ever dealt with by FAR. The young man that helped me was kind, patient, and courteous. He listened carefully to all of my questions and gave me thoughtful, educated answers even though I took up a lot of his time. I DID NOT get the impression that he was "pushing product" on me (which has happened at EVERY other vitamin shop I have visited in the area). But what really impressed me was the breadth and depth of his knowledge. I am the skeptical type so I double-checked some of the info that he gave me when I got home, which he encouraged me to do. All of the information I was given was correct--and we tackled some difficult subjects due to my chronic illnesses. I received more great information in the hour that I was in that store than in all the years I have seen doctors and practioners of every flavor and modality you can think of. AND it didn't cost me a dime compared to the thousands of $$$ I've spent looking for help (in all the wrong places, apparently). In any event, I can't say enough good about this store and the staff. Since my first visit I have been back and met the owners and they are great too. Very courteous, knowledgeable, and helpful as well. One of the owners is also a pharmacist and helped me to choose products based on my meds so as not to create interferences. Marlene ordered a product for me that wasn't on her shelves and didn't bat an eye at putting in the extra effort and even discounted the product when it came in! They're just great people that actually want to help you and know what they're talking about--a rarity these days! Glad I finally stopped in after all these years; I just wish I had done it...
Read moreI've driven by the store a hundred times without ever stopping in because I knew nothing about them. Recently I stopped on a whim, upon a recommendation from a friend. Though the store is quite small as one reviewer stated, when I entered I felt immediately at ease, was pleasantly surprised, and knew I was in the right place. They carry supplement products that I've been using for years and others I know are high quality/high integrity, which reinforced trust and that grounded feeling I got when I went in. Marlene and staff took the time to discuss my needs and current symptoms, and conferred with each other to give me the best product that would help. They even called a company to gather more info so as to answer a question I had. Will you get that elsewhere? If you're lucky. Having been in the business for 42 years they clearly know what they're doing, genuinely want to help, and treat you like they've known you forever, to boot. You can't top experience and knowledge when it's combined with genuine care and great customer service. I totally agree with Bob's review....
Read moreI stopped in to Marlene and Phil's vitamin shoppe when I was pregnant. The doctor told me to pick up iron supplements so I figured this would have been a good place to go. The woman working here was very pushy. I told her what the doctor told me to get and she immediately said that I shouldn't take the plain iron supplements, and recommend a different product in an attempt to avoid possible side effects from the iron. I believe the product she recommended did contain iron but I advised her that I was not comfortable deviating from doctor's orders while expecting and she still just kept pushing and pushing.. I just walked out of that place and went straight to rite aid where no one gave me any trouble. I know she meant well but It was a frustrating experience and I would never so there again. Also, it was super small and cramped...
