I am updating my review to 5 stars because shortly after expressing dissatisfaction with our purchase, and the events that followed, I was contacted by phone by Store Manager, who invited my husband and I to come back to the store so that they could make it right for us. He seemed genuinely concerned for our comfort and satisfaction. We ended up purchasing the floor model for the sale price of $899. He offered to refund the difference minus the restocking fee, but instead we purchased a bed stand to match our set. It came a little over our credit due, but we were happy to make the purchase. We are so glad that Chris contacted us, he truly restored our faith in this local family-owned business. When the time comes, we will be purchasing new living room furniture here.
My husband and I went to the New Hartford store to shop for a new mattress. We chose a Sealy Medium Euro Top Mattress for $1149.00. In the store it seemed soft enough for me, and firm enough for my husband. I asked about a return policy, knowing that lying on a mattress for a few minutes at the store is a lot different than sleeping on it every night. The salesperson told us that we could return it within 30 days if we purchased a $150 mattress protector and agreed to the 10% restocking fee, so we did. It wasn't long before we both agreed that the mattress felt hard and uncomfortable. We gave it a chance though, thinking it might need breaking in. Finally, we decided to trade it in. We went back to the store within the 30 days. There was nothing in the same price range other than one that felt about the same and was $100 more, but it really didn't seem much different. Everything else was either a downgrade or much more expensive. The manager pointed us to one in another room that was on sale for their low stock sell out event. I loved it! The reduced price was $899! But the manager said that according to policy it would have to be an even exchange of $1149, plus the $115 restocking fee. She said they had a new one in stock, and we agreed to an even trade plus the restocking fee. However, when we went to cash out, we were told that they did not have a new one in stock and we would have to purchase the floor model, but it would still need to be an even trade. We would have paid $1149 for a new mattress, but not for the floor model that was marked $899. It was $250 above the ticket price plus $115 for the restocking fee not the mention the $150 we paid for the mattress protector. They would not budge. Needless to say, we did not make the trade because it didn't seem right that one minute, we were getting a new mattress for $250 more than the sale price, and the next we were paying the same price for the floor model. So now we are stuck with a mattress that we are not comfortable on and a $150 mattress protector that we did not need. I really wish we would have kept our old mattress and saved ourselves $1400. We have shopped at Tehan's before. We purchased our living room and bedroom furniture there and have been pleased in the past. But this time not so much. I'm giving them 3 stars because I feel like we should have known better, but their return policy was not explained to us until we went back to trade...
Read moreUPDATE: Do not buy ANYTHING from these scam artists. The company commented on our original review pretending to want to help. Its been weeks of back and forth phone calls with ZERO help. We were clearly a burden to Mike the entire time. Today, he finally said he didnt believe what we were telling him as if we made this whole thing up out of thin air. We own an insurance agency and have five kids. We have no reason to make this up. Their reps told us at the point of sale AND the day we filed our claim that the plan would replace the couch. They literally lied to us to get us to spend hundreds of dollars on these protection plans and then call us liars when we try to use them. Its insane. Im so upset and feel so helpless. We work hard for our money and they just basically told me to F off like we were trash off the street. Stay far away from these people! Original PostDo not purchase the protection plans. They tell you if anything happens you get it replaced. The company it's through just informed us they are a "repair" company first. We bought two plans..one for our couch and one for a swivel chair. What they don't tell you is you have to file a claim through a third party and the process is DAUNTING. They assigned a "servicer" that only comes out when it's completely convenient for them. For example, they will be near us tomorrow but we are working until 2. Their last appt is at noon and they literally said the guy didnt want to "wait around for two hours". The plan is through Montage. As it stands the servicer can't come out until next week, which will mark three weeks since we started this process. And can't get ahold of the plan company by phone either. You have to leave a note in the claim center online. They never answer the number...
Read moreSo I got my couch and loveseat home on Thursday and when I opened the boxes the loveseat was the wrong color. It said brown on outside of box but when opened it was slate. So I called and the manager told me they would check all the boxes in warehouse cause it was a known issue that they were being stickered incorrectly. So I get a call the next day that I would get a delivery on Tuesday. I make arrangements for someone to be home for the 4 hour window. I get a call that day that they will be there in the next 30-45 mins. My son was waiting. After an hour I get a phone call from another Tehans number asking if I had a problem. With my delivery. I said not that I know of, my son is home waiting. Meanwhile I text my son who says they haven’t come yet. The guy on the phone tells me that they almost delivered the wrong color loveseat again. So he says he will call warehouse to see if he can get another then call me back in 5 mins. So the manager told me that the boxes would be opened and checked but they never did it. So come to find out the only loveseats they had left were the slate color. The guy offered me the chance to take the floor model so I did take it but explained only if it is in perfect condition. So he did fix the problem for me which I was happy with. But we could’ve avoided all of that if the manager would’ve did what he said he...
