This is the first comic shop I ever went to. I was 12 years old and believe I got a free Dazzler #1 from Janine way back in 1983. As a teenager I would spend some of my paycheck here on a weekly pull list when you could get 20 comics or more for 20 bucks. I built a heck of a collection shopping here over the years. I even sold a lot of it back to them when I moved to California in the mid 90’s. I haven’t been around here in a long time as I live out of state but will be in the Utica/Rome area for the next 8-12 months and will be stopping by the best comic shop around with the best owner ever. I don’t know who is around anymore. I only really remember Janine and the guy Joe who I was decently acquainted with. I never felt like a customer here. Read moreI called about wanting to come out from an hour away to sell Pokémon cards. COMPLETE SETS. The employee took 45 min BARELY looking at my $2k+ in cards then offer me $400 in store credit. 20% of TCG value but only in store credit. I wasnted 25% in cash and 100 in credit. The young guy who checked em out seemed ok w it but the crook behind the counter wanted to give lousy credit for poke.on cards from 1995 to current. Could the ow er of the store get some febreezr in there also. It's a basement store and ur comics are collecting moisture...

Ravenswood Comics will purchase pokemon cards at 20% and 50% value; Although I'm not sure what that means because after being berrated by the owner for having a price in mind that didnt cooincide with his business needs I swiftly walked out. "See the lights above you? And the person you talked to at the counter? They dont pay for themselves." Thank you, but I know that sir. A simple "No" would have been sufficient. 80% in card value is unrealistic and a complete dealbreaker for this business. I will be sure to direct business elsewhere and make this point to anyone who asks about...
