Last night (12/13/23) I was in the area picking up an order given to me via DoorDash (trying to make some extra money for the holidays). Unaware that the Ralph Lauren store even did DoorDash orders, I went to retrieve said pickup. Upon arriving at the store, I realized the store seemed to be closed. I asked one of the associates in the front (because the door was still open) for a little guidance, in which, I was advised to walk into the store towards the register where I would be better assisted. Once I arrived at the register, I was met by one of the employees who seemed to be agitated, and proceeded to take her frustration out on me. Before I move on with the interaction, and in case you are wondering, yes, I am đđŸ Before I could explain why I was in the store, she immediately let me know the obvious; that the store was closed/closing. Fully aware the store was closed/closing, I tried to explain that I was not there to purchase anything, but that an order was placed for pickup, hence why I was there at that time. The employee proceeded to ignore what I was saying and repeat that the store was closed (at this point, for the 6th time, as if I did not already make it clear that I was aware). Her attitude and behavior with me was downright rude and uncalled for, especially since the door for me to get into the establishment was still open (through the coffee shop there), not to mention, I was advised to walk into the store by one of the other employees. As someone whom not only also works in Manhasset, but was simply there for a pickup that was processed via Ralph Lauren at no action of my own, her behavior towards me reflected that of someone who is not too kind to people like myself. I've spent money at this particular location before, as well as other stores along Americana Manhasset, but I have never been belittled and ostracized the way I was last night. What made it worse was that, as I was walking out, her tone changed with another customer whom had walked in not too long after me, and that customer left pleased. Interactions like this tell me that people of color are not as welcomed in these high-end retail stores as they make it seem in their company's mission statements and social media campaigns. To be in 2023, almost 2024, and still have to deal with this behavior makes me want to let everyone I know aware that Ralph Lauren, specifically the Manhasset location, employs people that only cater to a SPECIFIC kind of people. I like to think that, that is not the case, but after my interaction last night, I am not too sure anymore. I visited the store on Sunday, October 19th to pick up my order â a three-piece tuxedo, white dinner coat, and bow tie. I had originally worked with Anton, who was excellent, attentive, and professional. Unfortunately, Anton was not in that day, so I asked for assistance from Isabella, who was equally wonderful and immediately began helping me locate my order.
While I was explaining the situation to Isabella, Calvin abruptly inserted himself into our conversation without reason or invitation. He began asking me multiple questions but repeatedly cut me off before I could finish answering. Isabella had already taken my order number and was in the process of retrieving my items, yet Calvin interjected and said, âWhy donât you stop speaking and let him speak?â â referring to my fiancĂ©, who had no additional information to provide.
He then added, âYouâre sending her on a wild goose chase â just stop speaking,â and walked away. He did not return or assist again for the remainder of my visit.
I was completely taken aback by his unprofessional and demeaning behavior. There is absolutely no excuse for speaking to a customer that way, especially when I was calm, respectful, and simply trying to collect my paid order. Thankfully, Isabella returned promptly with my items â no âwild goose chaseâ necessary â and was kind enough to apologize for his behavior, even though it was not her fault.
While Isabella and Anton both deserve 5 stars for their professionalism, Calvinâs conduct was unacceptable and disrespectful. I left the store feeling disrespected and uncomfortable. I genuinely hope management addresses this issue, because no customer should be spoken to in that manner. I strongly advise anyone visiting this location to avoid working...
   Read moreI had the most positive experience from the second I walked into Ralph Lauren on northern blvd in manhasset Long Island . I was in search of a specific shirt that I needed for a funeral I was attending the next day and the staff and especially the manager made it so much easier on me to find what I was looking for . Given the fact that I needed a relatively large size , I was still given many options to choose from . The general manger Dana Roever happily came by to help me pick something out and she treated me like I was her son in trying on different shirts . Her customer service was like no other I have ever experienced before and it meant everything to me at a time like this to find the perfect shirt that I was looking for . After picking out a few options she even took my shirt back to be pressed so that I would not have to worry about that . I even ended up picking out a few more shirts before checkout which didnât have my size available but she made sure to find it and have it delivered to me . I tried to offer her a tip before leaving but she kindly declined and stated that there was no need because she loves her job and loves seeing her customers satisfied . Being that I love to shop and have a pretty decent wardrobe , I have never experienced such excellent customer service in a store in my entire life and I Would highly Recommend this store and this specific location to everyone. Dana represents this store with the most fantastic customer service there is . Ralph Lauren made a phenomenal decision in making her the team leader manager .
