Limani-Roslyn is just fabulous. It is a true authentic Greek restaurant that makes you feel as though you were in Athens. As soon as you are seated delicious fresh pita bread along with hummus and baba ghanoush arrived at the table. The drink menus from the house specials were delicious. I had the Mango Martini that had Absolut Mango, Cointreau and Mango Puree and was divine. Also ordered was The Odyssey that had Ciroc coconut vodka and a splash of pineapple juice. I felt like we were on a tropical island. The Tomato Salad was so flavorful. Fresh ripe red tomatoes, cucumbers, green pepper, Greek olives, onions and a fantastic Feta, brought this salad together. The Patzaria roasted beets and skordalia was magnificent. The skordalia was just amazing. The scallops were delish. Seared bay scallops with citrus and mint was a delight. The calamari was fresh in a light pan fried and served with a Marinara sauce and a basil sauce that were very tasty. The Loup De Mer was a moist, mild Mediterranean Sea Bass with Horta. The filet mignon was out of this world. This crusted and cooked to perfection piece of meat, melted in my mouth. This piece of meat from @fdalemeatmkt was just outstanding. The Greek potatoes were crunchy and bursting with cheesy flavor. The swiss chard was very fresh and full of flavor. Not to be left out were the amazing desserts. The baklava was so flaky and luscious. The karidopita is a walnut cake served with vanilla ice cream. This cake was moist and yummy. My personal favorite was the Greek yogurt with cherries, walnuts, cherries in an amazing honey syrup was to die for.
When I drove up to Limani- Roslyn, I knew that this was a very impressive place to be.he valet took care of my car, and were very nice youn men. This restaurant is gorgeous from the exterior to the inside. It is big and beautiful. It is open and yet seats many. It is comfortable, relaxing and it makes you feel as if you were in Athens. The high ceilings and beautiful light fixtures are breathtaking. When I walked around and I saw the kitchen and servers preparing the food, I knew this was going to be amazing. The fresh fish on ice in the center of the restaurant was fantastic to see as well as the showcase of meats from @fdalemeatmkt.
The hostess is a lovely young lady as the maitre d' was wonderful. He was very helpful as he assisted in ordering on the menu. The staff was very nice. We were taken care of and never once did we feel rushed. I definitely plan on a return trip to Limani to try their other...
Read moreThe restaurant is large, so one should not expect good acoustics or a romantic atmosphere. As soon as we walked in, there was a faint smell of a fish market, which should never be if the fish is fresh and kept properly. After being seated, the assistant waiter kept coming and asking for our drink order. We appreciated the attention, but when we say, "we'll determine our food order and then select a wine", that should be enough. A young lady brought a basket of small, old tasting pita triangles and a dish that she described as "this side is chick peas and this side is eggplant". Limani should train their staff to properly name the dishes being served (hummus and baba ganoush). Both, however, were totally lacking in flavor and body. Then, the Kumamoto oysters were terribly lacking in taste, butteriness and richness that they are famous for. When I stated so to the waiter, he was stand-offish and arrogant, as if we were not knowledgeable (we certainly did not want to engage him by telling him we've lived in Italy, my wife in Greece and France). His response should have been, "sir, m'am, I'm sorry you did not find them satisfactory. Is there anything I can perhaps bring you?". Instead he simply made his commentary and walked away. Obviously Limani needs to train their staff. The roasted mushroom appetizer was abominable. Lemon is an absolute wrong choice to compliment mushrooms - stealing any of the mushroom flavor. And, without any salt to bring flavors together, we didn't even finish the dish and just asked that it be taken away. The grilled octopus was good - the best one of the evening, but again, nothing spectacular. The black sea bass was cold and missing salt and any olive oil. For $86 for a fish for two, the quality was not commensurate with the price. Lastly, the meal was rushed. Dishes came out too fast, one after the other. It should be no surprise that dessert was not even attempted. This was truly one of the worst dining experiences that we've had in years. Between the food quality, the staff and the atmosphere, Limani loses in every category. I would say that if you are on a low salt, low fat diet, that you might like Limani. Recommendation? Drive a little, go into Astoria for excellent Greek food at...
Read moreMy wife and I were frequent patrons of Limani Restaurant in Roslyn, NY for several years and we write this review with a heavy heart that after last nights experience on Saturday March 26, 2016 we will never return!!! The restaurant always had high quality food with a great atmosphere and fantastic cocktails and a high price tag too match and for the most part attentive service. Their was always an air of pretension in the restaurant as you would see frequent customers arrive in Bentley's, Rolls Royce's and Lamborghini's. The issue is with the incompetent and arrogant smug management of this establishment . When my wife and I arrived for our dinning reservations at 6:00 pm promptly we were seated and were immediately asked to order our cocktails, appetizers and main entrees. Exactly at 7:05 pm our main server inquired if we wanted dessert, coffee, teas and after dinner cordials which we ordered. At 7:10 pm our server returns with our beverages and dessert only to have two managers just five minutes later at 7:15 pm glare at us and then one of them approached our table exactly one hour and fifteen minutes into our dinner to inform us to leave the table and have our dessert and drinks at the bar as they overbooked the restaurant and apparently a more affluent older couple needed our table. My wife and I were stunned and appalled as we frequent fine dinning establishments on a regular basis and have never received this type of mistreatment and disrespect. We quickly retrieved our late model Mercedes from the valet and agreed that we can't wait to inform all of our family, many friends and clients of the humiliation and abuse that we encountered. For now on we will only patronize Kyma restaurant in Roslyn, NY where they actually appreciate your business and have the same high quality food and beautiful atmosphere and attentive service and management that actually treats the customer with respect...
