I recently took my two daughters, ages 11 and 14, to the batting cages for the first time, especially as it was a special day celebrating my daughter's birthday. I had informed them over the phone prior to our visit that it would be our first experience. Unfortunately, we encountered a staff member who was quite rude and unprofessional.
When we arrived, we were told to grab bats from the wall, which was fine, but then the staff member directed his frustration toward my daughters, questioning whether they knew how to hold a bat or stand properly. He yelled out instructions from across the cage, expressing impatience and even said, âI donât have patience for this.â I was taken aback by his behavior, especially towards my young daughters, who were excited to try something new.
Although I should have left at that moment, I didnât want to disappoint my girls. They were looking forward to this experience, but the negative atmosphere created by this staff member made it difficult for us to enjoy the outing.
I believe customer service is essential, especially when dealing with children who are trying something new. I hope that management addresses this issue to ensure a more welcoming environment for families...
Read moreI've been going to this cage since I was in little league. I am now 30 years old living near Manhattan and I gladly make the 45 - 60 min trip back to Garden City Park to hit some balls at this place. The owner, Steve, is incredibly approachable, appreciates your business, and knows a thing or two about the game as he was drafted by the White Sox and played several years of minor league ball. From purely a baseball perspective, I objectively believe this is one of the best batting cages on Long Island. Why? Many reasons but here are a few... First, there are 3 cages so you rarely have to wait even if you don't make an appointment. Second, you have full control of the pitching machines (i.e., you can set the exact speed and aim dead center/inside/outside/high/low). Third, they're open ALL the time, even most holidays. Fourth, prices are very reasonable. And lastly, there are no gimmicky distractions like a video screen that simulates a pitcher in his windup. Instead, you're able to clearly see the next ball in the hopper come down a long runway into the pitching machine which allows you to time the pitches well. I do not have enough good things to say about this batting...
