Weitsman Recycling — Local services in Town of Owego

It's a great place to bring scrap metal. We've been going to Weitsman's for several years now. If you don't know what kind of metal you have someone there will gladly tell you what it is, and how you can tell the difference between them. It's a great place to earn some quick cash off any metal you might have laying around. Not to mention recycling is WAY better for the environment. So don't throw that old metal desk in the garbage. Take it down to Weitsman Recycling lol. In all seriousness tho they're great, their employees are great, great atmosphere. When they closed the facility they had in Ithaca I literally started driving the extra 40min to stick with Weitsman. I recommend anyone who scraps to take there...

Called ahead and asked for a price on a specific material and was told “$1.53/lb for insulated copper #2, come on down!” I show up and unload that exact material (100% all insulated #2). And then when I go to the counter, the same employee that answered my call gives me $0.75/lb. These employees must be coached to operate their business in this manner. Our family had a truck fire on the highway right near Vestal, and Mike from Weitsmen Recycling was the first person to stop his truck and rush over to help our family try to extinguish the fire.
