chubs meats — Local services in Town of Smithtown

I really want to love Chubs because our town needs a place like this, and it’s so close and convenient. I’ve had just as many great experiences as not-so-great ones, but the letdowns have been hard to ignore.

The place is always packed, so clearly they’re doing a lot right. But for me, the inconsistency has been rough. I’ve had to throw away mac and cheese and chicken cordon bleu that were spoiled and sour, and most recently I served potato salad at a BBQ that had gone bad. It was embarrassing, my guests thought it was beer flavored because it was so fermented. That one really stung because I was excited to share food from a local spot I’ve been trying to support.

Pricing has also been off more than once. Since items don’t have printed weight labels and are calculated on phones, I’ve ended up paying way more than expected, like $40 for 3lbs of chicken thighs that were on special. By the time I realized, it was too late to go back. I don't have time or energy to go complain so I just had to eat the loss. (Or didn't eat in this case)

I think what Chubs really needs is some better processes or managers in place to make sure quality control and pricing are consistent. Clear labeling, tighter checks on prepared foods, and a little more structure would go a long way.

That said, when everything is fresh and right, the food is excellent. The sandwiches especially are outstanding and worth waiting in line for. I truly hope they can tighten things up, because I want Chubs to be a place I can feel proud to recommend, not one I’m nervous to serve at a...

Don’t know where to start ! Great meats service absolutely the worse! Can’t place orders on phone, it’s a joke to them I have been there at both locations, while on line and on phone placing an order they pick up and put you on hold. Just payed $26 dollars for 2 roast beef on roll with mayo salt and pepper. The person making my order must have poured salt over the whole sandwich. Before the order was place same person had to go find pen and paper to write down this order roast beef on roll with Swiss, mayo, tomato salt and pepper x2 Unbelievable he looked like he was trying to figure long division. Next issue would be that they have all responders shields on walls and 9/11 poster. Put yet they don’t discount military or police. Take your shields down. If you put up patriot symbolism, but don’t stand for them or is it just wall paper? To make you feel better? You guys have a what looks like a good business horrible...

Easily 10/10 stars and I would give more if I could. Recently ordered catering for my son’s birthday, everyone was raving about how amazing the food was. Thomas even personally brought all the trays to my car. Such caring and friendly staff. I always stop in during the week for their ready made dinners too, because let’s face it, I don’t have time to cook and at their prices? Why bother. I’d be paying the same amount for all the ingredients, plus taking my time and energy away from my child by cooking and cleaning. No matter if you’d like to get ready made meals, catering or food to bring home to cook yourself, they make it simple, delicious and affordable. One of my favorites are the chicken meatballs in vodka sauce. I’m drooling just writing this and thinking about it. I really can’t say enough great things about this crew. Keep feeding us, Chubs!
