I rescued a Siberian Husky just over a year ago. I adopted her from a shelter where the dogs played outside all day and were well taken care of. As a result, my dog is happiest when she's playing with a pack of dogs.
Originally, I tried a big brand's daycare, but because they were a pet store first and a daycare second, I felt that my dog didn't enjoy herself much.
I was very happy to learn on Facebook that a Hounds Town was opening up in Smithtown. Finally, a store near me whose primary focus is dog daycare and boarding. They have large indoor (and soon outdoor) areas for the dog groups to run and play.
The people working at Hounds Town are very pleasant and will answer any questions you may have. They enjoy being around the dogs, and it shows. I feel comfortable bringing my dog here and know she will be well taken care of.
I plan to use Hounds Town for all my daycare and boarding needs!
Give them a try! You will not be...

They didnât explain the process at all and immediately brought another dog out without letting my dog settle into a new environment. They wouldnât let me leave after they failed my dog (which is totally okay. She was just not a good fit) and kept telling me reasons why she wasnât a good fit. I kept saying ok it wasnât a big deal and I would just take her home but they wouldnât let go of the leash to let me leave.
Iâve worked in dog day cares for about 10 years now and didnât want to leave a bad review just because the facility wasnât the best fit for my dog (who actually loves day care and is very well socialized) but the overall experience just was not good from start to finish. They say they donât breed discriminate but from the initial greeting they very clearly do.

Read moreHounds Town Smithtown is a dream come true for me and my dog Rosie! From the moment I walked in, I loved the experience. The staff welcomed me with a smile and took the time to get to know Rosie and made sure she felt comfortable and at ease.
I love that they offer both indoor and outdoor areas, so she can exercise and socialize regardless of the weather. The play areas are filled with fun toys and equipment, keeping the dogs entertained and engaged. She came home happy and tired!
Another aspect that sets Hounds Town Smithtown apart is their genuine love and care for the animals. I loved receiving daily updates and photos of my dog playing with her new friends, which gave me such peace of mind while I was away. It's clear that the team here treats every dog like family. I always felt bad about dropping her off or going out of town but those days are over. I'll never take her...
