This past Monday I stopped in at Competition Subaru of Smithtown & from the time I entered I was greeted by Jackie, who had the biggest smile on her face. She asked how she can help me & I told her that I am interested in an Outback & have been for years. She then introduced me to Farrell Shapiro, a Subaru Sales and Leasing Consultant. Before Farrell & I even talked about a car, Farrell & I talked about Long Island football & we happen to know the same athletes who eventually made it into the NFL. Then Farrell spent time with me explaining about Outbacks (which like I said I always wanted one). After listening to Farrell, I picked out one that I wanted to test drive & from the moment I saw the car & I got in to test drive it, I knew it was the one, it is so beautiful & safe too. The test drive was so much fun, because I got to listen to Farrells' Rodney Dangerfield impressions, which I actually thought I was in the car with Rodney. When we got back, Farrell asked if I wanted to test drive any other Outbacks & I said no, that this is the one. He talked numbers & then introduced me to Rahul Verma, the Finance Manager & after talking to him I agreed to purchase the car. I left a down payment that day to secure the car & came back a few days later to accept delivery which Farrell made it absolutely smooth & even when he showed me everything about the car & there was absolutely no pressure put on me about anything. Not only Jackie, Farrell & Rahul, but the entire staff at Competition Subaru of Smithtown treated me absolutely unbelievable. Everyone said to call or come in anytime if I have any questions or need help with anything. I am so happy & can't thank everyone at Competition Subaru of Smithtown enough, especially Farrell, Rahul & Jackie where it all started when I walked in the front door & her warm welcome was just what I needed. Everyone at Competition Subaru of Smithtown thanked me for my Service to this Great Country & I thanked all of them for helping as first time buyer of an Outback. If you are looking for a new or used car then I highly recommend Competition Subaru of Smithtown & talking to my new pal Farrell & let me tell you they all are amazing! I bought a Cert. used Crosstrek immediately after my car accident. I was not in the best state of mind due to injuries from the accident, but insurance only gives you 5 days with a rental to get a new car after they issue the check.
I figured everything was going to go ok, as my last 2 Subaru's were great and dependable...
I knew I wanted an extra warranty as I'm on a limited budget and wanted something that would handle all of the maintenance for 2 years on a service plan.
Sales - I explained this to the finance guy and he went over options and explained almost exactly what I was looking for. He offered things that are not actually covered by the plan and said he did them "ala carte" so it's fine. 1st oil change and I'm told I need all 4 brakes and rotors and I reminded them of my coverage. They said what I needed wasn't covered and referenced a miswording in their pamphlet without an asterisk referencing limitations. I ask to speak to the finance guy that sold it to me, but apparently he quit. I already spoke with the dealership and they did offer to refund it, but at that point I was already financing the plan so I just kept it.
Certified used - I did a basic inspection and test drive, but my head was still hurting and made it hard to remember everything to check, but I trusted the Certified vehicle just like I did my 2 previous Subaru's. Here's the thing...I've had this car for 1.5 years and between my 2 oil changed I'm told I need over 3k worth of repairs. All 4 tires, all 4 brakes and rotors and a few other minor things. Tires need to be replaced every 25-60k miles...I've gone 10k. Brakes/rotors - replace every 75k depending on driving style; I'm a commercial driver, so my license is everything. I don't speed, I have excellent control of acceleration/stopping. So why does all of this need to be replaced after 10k miles on a Certified vehicle?
This has been such a frustrating ordeal and deception (whether intended or by accident). Basically, you lost a customer for 2 big issues that shouldn't have happened. I loved my last 2 Subarus from other dealerships, but this has lost my respect and has me concerned this would have potentially...
Read moreWe came to the dealership through the COSTCO auto program, and were fortunate enough to have been greeted by Greg G. We could not be happier with the personal service he provided. He spent a good deal of time confirming exactly what we were looking for. Fortunately, He had the exact vehicle in inventory. The sale was finalized with the business manager, David R. He too,. took the care to fully explain all our options, without pressuring for a specific outcome. Greg, at the time of delivery, spent the time necessary to ensure our understanding of the vehicle operation and all of the features. It's rare in today's hurried world to find someone as consumer oriented as the General Sales Manager, Nino T., and the entire staff at this dealership with whom we had contact. I recommend Greg without hesitation I have now had my car serviced there three times. I am as pleased with the service department as I was with sales.(7/23)
Update 7/13/24 I met with Greg G.this week in order to update my Subaru Limited to the Wilderness edition. This time I returned because of the extremely positive experience I had with my first purchase there in 2021. Greg was able to reward my brand loyalty (or more specifically dealership/salesman loyalty) by offering a great price on the new vehicle and providing a good trade-in allowance on the 2021 Outback. He is very knowledgeable about the vehicles he sells, and spent a good amount of time ensuring I was fully appraised of all the features of the car. The finance manager, Rahul V. ensured that the finalization of the sale was very positive. I would meet with him in a heartbeat in order to conduct business there again.
Update 9/17/24 I continue to be impressed with the dealership and staff. I met with a sales consultant, Regina Medina, after she contacted me regarding my recent purchase. She took a generous amount of time to ensure that all my questions were answered and any minor issues were addressed. She was very thorough and professional.
