This is the Marshalls in Kingston, NY. Over the years, this store is usually 4 stars but sometimes its a 3 star. I like Marshalls and stores like it [like Home Goods. I think they are maybe the same company as I sometimes see the exact same lamps or house wares at both stores]. I like them because they always have an interesting and diversified inventory of things you cant just find anywhere or find easily but at a much more expensive price. Marshalls usuaaly has a nice clothing inventory but its less varied in the womens plus sizes. Dont get me wrong. For this area Marshalls has a pretty good plus line . Now the less positive comment. The plus size clothes while mostly pretty colors and prints, all are shaped like plus size women have their own clothes designer "the local tent maker or carpet store". Plus size clothes especially tops can have shape and not just be the huge loose baggy one style tops. Also , generally plus size jeans selection alot of the time is somewhat limited but the great thing is that Marshalls carry good brand names like Jones of New York. [My fav designer for pants and everything. I wouldnt be able to afford names like JNY, DKNY, Eileen Fisher or Ellen Tracy, if it werent for Marshalls and a couple thrift stores in a 2 county radius that are treasures] I like the pet section for things that I cant find as affordable elsewhere. Cat scratchers that usually cost $5 to $15 more at pet stores, I usually can get for $10 at marshalls. I could go on and on about buys I've gotten there but the site isnt looking for a book.lol One thing I've noticed that is the same with most stores. Depending where you live [and I mean your socio- economic area] the quality, quanity and pricing tends towards being better or not as nice. Kingston happens to have a pretty nice one. The one thing these stores have limited control over is how bad is the fashion sense and taste of the clothing designers who come up with some of the hideous retro [ allegedly from eras gone by. Ok, Ill admit people had just as bad taste in the 60s, 70s and so on. I shouldnt make jokes about bon fires or pink slipping whoever is the clothing buyer for...
Read moreI am disappointed to report an incident of discrimination my daughter and I encountered at the Marshalls store in the Kings Mall, Kingston, NY on January 9th around 4:30PM. Upon entering and again when leaving, I noticed employees watching us. I initially brushed it off and returned to purchase rain boots for my daughter since it was snowing. The employee who assisted us made no effort to provide good customer service. She avoided looking at or engaging with us and did not offer any assistance. Her body language and lack of service made it clear we were not welcome. Discrimination has no place in any retail environment. All customers should feel welcomed and receive equal service. I am filing complaints with Marshalls corporate, the BBB, and fair business agencies. Shoppers should be aware of the racist behavior at this location.
P.S: I would give it a -10 for the treatment that I have endured, but it won’t...
Read moreCame here 7/16/22 to return a Tj Maxx item the same day I bought it in NYC because it didn’t fit, the cashier went to ask the manager they told me (a lie) they can no longer do tj maxx returns company policy, crazy thing is that I go back home to nyc to marshals they did it for me with out even a question, I asked if that was a policy, they said no. That even more sad part is that I’m originally from Kingston and I moved to the city more then a decade ago, and it was the greatest decision of my life because trashy behavior like this in Kingston ny is exactly what I was running away from. The manager and cashier need to be retrained, this is unacceptable customer service, but let me tell you with that level of attitude you never go anywhere beyond minimum wage at marshals...
