The High Point location is oddly special to me. I have only recently started coming here and it is my closest official store at 1 hour and 40 some odd minutes away from my house. I have to plan a day around traveling to it but this location is worth it.
Why?
Well, I'm an old hand. I've been playing painting and collecting 40k models since early 2nd edition. I live well away from population centers so for me to get anything it was via mail order. The exception was road trips. If where I was going had a games workshop store (rebranded to current day as Warhammer) according to the directory in my white dwarf magazine I would stop in. Needless to say, over the decades I have visited more than my fair share of official GW/Warhammer stores east of the Mississippi.
Up until recently I considered the St Augustine location to be my home store as it was really close to my Florida property I visit once a year. Traveling to Victor to visit the High Point location was always out of my way for my usual travels.
So I made time and went.
I was wrong in not going sooner. The fellow running that store is an outstanding guy. Quiet but with a presence, kind, and what a well ran store. He does not pressure you but he smoothly talks with multiple customers guiding them with questions, random conversations, and pointers about paint.
Paint! His Orks are the finest Orks I've seen outside of golden dragon paint jobs.
If you're looking for an official GW/Warhammer store and you are in NY then make sure to stop...

Read moreI cannot speak higher of this store and more importantly the store’s manager. At first, I was hesitant and intimidated about Warhammer because I had heard negative stereotypes about the player base and that the game was extremely complicated. Reluctantly I went into the store having no idea what I was doing or even what I was looking for, it was a very overwhelming feeling and I almost immediately turned around and left. However, the manger (Alex) instantly approached me and not only made me feel welcomed but made all of my new questions and apprehensions feel completely acceptable and appropriate. I now frequently shop the store and always feel welcomed. If you are at all interested in Warhammer, this shop and its manager would easily be my first recommendation! Even if you just have questions about the game, come to this shop and I promise you will leave with not only those questions answered, but probably some...
