I have spent a considerable amount of time reflecting before writing this review. I don't wish to cause harm to anyone's business, but I do believe that I have a responsibility to share my experience, and I hope that doing so will encourage introspection and growth.
I visited Warwick recently to bring my nieces (8 and 11) to a tea room, first shopping on Main Street. Employees of the neighboring stores were darling, friendly, and complimentary to the kids. In this particular store, it struck me as unusual that, despite the store being filled with many shoppers, the clerk moved herself from behind the counter to follow the kids and me around the store, abandoning her cash register, never taking her eyes off of the kids. Curious, I led the girls into different areas of the store, and she followed each time. I am unaware of whether or not the kids noticed, but I chose to leave, feeling very uncomfortable. She followed us almost to the door, and when I turned around to check, she had returned to the counter, although there were no customers in her immediate presence.
Having never been in such a situation, I continued to turn it over in my mind: was she suspicious because they are young, because they are of color, or was I being too sensitive?
Continuing to shop along Maine St., I did soon after see a woman enter the store with her daughter. Curious about the clerk's behavior, I peeked in while we passed and took note of the store. It was, again, filled with people, an adult woman shopping with her blonde child of comparable age, but the clerk remained behind...
Read moreWhen looking at the store from the outside it looks so warm and welcoming but once you step in it's a totally different feeling. The owner's/manager makes you feel unwelcome the moment you step in just because of your appearance. Not saying that we were not dressed nicely..we were!! Unfortunately we are not her cookie cutter typical customer that she receives on a daily basis. She made my 13 year old daughter question if she was doing some thing wrong by looking at the her jewelry.. she asked me to hold my items behind the counter but I was the only one she went up to. Now this is my mistake by going to the store for a second time.. unfortunately this happened the 1st time as well and I blew it off. I have been in retail for 35 years so I know Exactly what she was doing and I will never give business to this store !!!
So to wrap it all up if you do not fit her mold as the perfect customer stay far away from this store!!!
As for the response from the owner ..I have written this review because I have been in retail for so long that I see the wrong with the customer service that you are giving.. As per cookie cutter customers, all you need to do is just look around at where you're located at, and as per your issue with customers stealing your jewelry lately..maybe just maybe you need to give friendly customer service to each and every customer that walks in your door instead profiling . If you're so worried about what a review will do to your customer base and your profits then maybe you need to take a deep dive into the experience you're providing...
Read moreSO looking forward to stopping by this WONDERFUL store again when we're in town celebrating our 10 year wedding anniversary next month! One of my all-time favorite shops. And I haven't even gotten a chance to see their new fall items or the baby/Mama section yet! There are always new items to check out and if you follow them on Instagram or Facebook, there are great seasonal sales as well. There's a reason the reviews for this place have been so consistently high. From the selection to the customer service to the overall attention to detail... you will NOT be disappointed. :)
*Not surprisingly, the ONLY negative review on here gave no specifics. Plus, the reviewer refused a conversation with the owner who was gracious enough to respond. If you post a vague complaint without any context, then refuse a genuine offer to "make it right," you're just complaining for the sake of complaining. Why...
