As another reviewer mentioned this place is a joke especially for the seller!!! I take very good care of my clothes and am extremely fussy with my laundry.....usually only drying partly in dryer and then letting air dry for less, if any, shrinkage!!! I recently took five dresses three of which were Liz Claiborne, one was from a division of Liz Claiborne and the other was a Pretty Woman dress...brown with white polka dots!!! The latter two are classics that will never be out of style but I don't think they know anything about that because they didn't want even one of my dresses and said they were all dated??? The three Liz dresses were pretty basic tee shirt style less than two years old, two sleeveless one green and one black both with white stripes and the other 3/4 sleeve black with a thin white stripe (what's dated here)??? After some bickering about the label on two of the Liz dresses (I purchased from QVC not JCP) they took the two sleeveless but told me the other was pilling (was only laundered once)??? I GAVE them three pair of shoes (Clarks/Aerosoles) one pair of Ralph Lauren pristine white Capri jeans, a Nolan Miller bracelet, a Karen Kane leopard print maxi skirt, plus 2 other items which they offered me $24 and change.....after they decided to take the two dresses I was rewarded with another whole $4. I believe there are no experts running this show.....while looking at the items for sale I was shocked at the inventory because I didn't see anything but junk and certainly not the designer brands I'm used to and know of!!! Certainly not worth...
Read moreI have really mixed feelings about this store, and I've tried going back to it ever few months for the last few years, so this isn't coming from a one-time experience. For a consignment shop it's fairly well stocked (they can only buy what people bring in, so it's hit or miss on what you're looking for no matter what). What I have regular issues with at this Clothes Mentor store is the staff. Their customer service is pretty poor. They'll buy stained/snagged clothes and when asked for a discount on them they will make excuses not to give one, they rarely greet you when you come in, and quite a bit of the time they don't pay attention to you at all so if you're looking to use a dressing room they get confused and ask you to check out instead. They also don't have a public restroom, and will tell you to leave the store no matter the weather to use the restroom in the Subway which is 7 shops away. Be aware of these things and prepared when you're shopping here. You'll probably find something that you want to buy because their clothes selection is pretty good. If you have time go to one of their other locations though, the service is just so...
Read moreAs a loyal Clothes Mentor customer for many years, I was disappointed when they closed both stores near me. The nearest store is now 35 minutes away. I decided to make a special trip to the store to look for clothing for an upcoming vacation. I shopped and picked out probably at least 20 items but didn’t have the time to try them on. Prior to cashing out, I asked if they would allow 9 days to return, as my daughter is a teacher in the area but on spring break. I was hoping they would allow 2 weeks extra days so that she could return anything and drive 8 minutes out of her way vs 35 minutes each way for me. I was told no….only store credit! Reminder…the store is 35 minutes away. I did not take what I had picked out. So instead of them being flexible by 2 days, they have permanently lost a customer!!! I guess they don’t need my money and their policy is more important than my loyalty. I would like to say it was nice doing business, but you let me...
