ALDI — Local services in Town of Woodbury

Aldi's excellent for reasonable pricing, consistent fresh selection of fruits and vegetables, great choice of cheeses and coldcuts. The variety of non-food items is interesting as well. The offerings of foodstuffs fron Europe, especially Germany, is a highlight. The reason I don't give the 5th ⭐, is because of the dumb shopping cart $.25 quarter deposit system. Is this done to deter shopping cart theft? Most of us arriving at Aldi's don't even carry cash or coins. An attendant told me I can just go to a cashier and make change for quarters. What if one doesn't even have a dollar to make coins? Besides, one would have to interrupt a cashier who has several people on the line, and it would be an inconvenience to those customers. So I observe that most customers come in carrying their bags and have to put the goods they are buying into the bags and carry them through the store instead of in a cart. So I just had an incident with a cashier. I was putting my groceries on the conveyor belt and the customer behind me was doing the same. The customer behind me had put the divider down so that the cashier knew where my groceries ended and the women’s groceries, begin however the cashier was going quicker than I was putting groceries on the conveyor belt. I didn’t have any more room to put my last two things on the conveyor belt (I could’ve easily handed them to her) so to “solve” the problem the cashier shoved all of the person behind me’s groceries down the conveyor belt in a very, very rude way. Me and the other customer looked at each other shocked. I personally apologize to the person behind me and she responds with “Happy Sunday” and the cashier, in a very rude way says “yeah, so happy” and gives both of us the nastiest look. I have never had such an at Aldi’s. Let alone any other...

This review is for those of you who KNOW all about ALDI. This is a great location because it is out of the way and new (as of 2020). For those who shun Aldi's private brands, be aware that all of the major food conglomerates and high-quality private brand manufacturers are here at a significant lower cost. Add to that some decent German specialties - and that instant coffee is awesome, because it really is made by German-roaster Dahlmeyer, but you wouldn't know and I'll bet you've never bought it.
