Many of us who frequent this store have been holding our tongues over the past year, hoping for improvement, but this location is now in an uncontrollable spiral of incompetence- and that burden is passed on to the customer. I’ll touch on a few key points, though this could easily be made a dissertation. We’ll start with the fact that they remind customers every few minutes about the ETA until closing time, hoping to shoo patrons out the door as if we’re in the wrong for being there in the first place. If they returned to 24hrs instead of slapping loyal customers in the face, this simply wouldn’t be an issue. Lingering customers are apparently the bane of the existence of every employee there, yet the largest portion of their customer base works shifts. I see many in uniform from various factories ect.- rushing in to be able to shop, only to be hurried out the door, as if their patronage is a nuisance. This is compounded by the fact that the stockers “start” hours before close, blocking everything they possibly can with as many boxes and pallets as they can muster. “We get it, you don’t want us here”- is the general sentiment one feels after 9pm. They block aisles, they block displays, they block the freezer sections so that doors cannot be opened- honestly a hazard. They seem to take pride in placing pallets at a distance from shelves so that you can almost go down an aisle with a cart- but not quite. They’re surpassed in malicious intent only by the “cleaners”, who take great joy in caution-taping off wide swaths of the store- so that you can’t actually do the thing you came to do…..shop. Aisles upon aisles taped off, sometimes leaving large quadrants of the store unable to be accessed. If the store is open until xx:xx, it stands to reason that it should be FULLY open until xx:xx- not partially partitioned off because incompetent management can’t formulate a logical schedule. You’ve already insulted us by reducing hours- how about you at least do those tasks on YOUR time, ie. after “hours”. Don’t make your customers suffer because you can’t run a store. The issue of management is readily apparent, as even basic inventory needs can’t be met, and the burden of that incompetence is passed on to the customer. Artificial “limits” placed on seemingly arbitrary items, a literal year of low or no stock items….the list goes on and on. Many of us once took pride in buying from a smaller regional retailer- but with recent performances….that’s...
Read moreI do most of my shopping at Meijers. I particularly love this one in Troy. The staff is always so kind and willing to stop what they're doing to help you out. The store itself is always very clean and organized. I love the line of clothes and shoes they have, the toys department is really nice, the electorics is also very nice with just about anything you could think of that u might need. Their prices are a little more than say Walmart but the Mperks help that out.
I have the Meijers app and absolutely love the shop and go. It is so convenient and makes the whole shopping experience so much faster. I love that I can scan everything and pack everything up and keep everything organized the way I like it to make the unpacking and putting away go so much smoother for us at home and I can do it at my discretion without feeling like I am pissing someone off behind me bc I am doing it while I am still shopping. The worker at the self check out will come over once u have transferred ur items to the cash register and pick out items throughout your cart and make sure u have not missed anything (usually like 3 to 5 items). What I do is just make sure the ones I have questions about because of either my coupon not working or something and tell them the moment I go up to pay so they can help me figure out why it's not coming up right after they have checked my items. It's really nice though once you have become a trusted shopper because it's almost like a random pull of who needs checked and who doesn't because I have been using the app for so long that most of the time it will allow me to transfer without being checked. I find that awesome and gives a little boost in confidence and the integrity department within myself.
I love the Mperks they have for you for shopping at their store. It helps me out a lot especially because you can get a dollar off in fuel by shopping at their store or so much off your purchases if you choose to use...
Read moreUpdated November 2025: I wish that Meijers would bring back their buy 10 get the 11th item free sale. That sale has not happened in a very long time. The excuse I got was supply chain difficulties. I don't believe that excuse. That sale used to be a tradition at Meijer since they opened here in Troy. Due to the lack of that sale happening I don't shop much at Meijer's anymore. They're shopping app is very difficult to use. I gave up tracking the Meijer app online to find out when that special sale starts and ends. Sales at other times can be very discouraging because there's not much that I would call a bargain. It just depends on what you want. They need to work on that app and make it much more simple. The prices of things that are not groceries are very high compared to other stores. But if you like to browse in stores to relax just keep going over to the areas that you like and maybe you can find things on sale at a more reasonable price. But it's hard to determine when the clearance sales might happen. Once you start shopping at Meijers it tracks what you buy at the cash register and Meijers is very nice about sending you coupons for money off of stuff you already buy regularly. I like those in the mail coupons. Meijers always make sure that they give you a free item of something that you always buy. If I'm shopping in the store and I have coupons that I don't intend to use I just give them to another shopper. That way they don't go to waste. It's a random act of kindness that other people seem to really like.
October 1st 2022 I just found out that Meijers no longer does that by 10 things get the 11th thing free sale. The explanation was supply chain difficulties makes that impossible right now. Meijers will still send you coupons in the mail for money off of things you...
