The real rating its a 4 1/2 for many reasons. This shop is the only one in town (as far as im concern) that sell comics, sports cards and other memorabilia and Yu-Gi-Oh!. That brings you $$$ when you fill everyone's needs in different hobbies. The shop is clean, the bathrooms are clean and they are kids friendly. The owner and employees have kids also and are very, VERY understanding. The shop is not perfect, nor have I come across one that is perfect well....(except that one in Queens, NY where they sold ONLY NBA Cards and boxes) but we in AZ...so, this one would do. They have a huge variety of cards ranging from Hockey, Football and Baseball....Their stock on NBA is low but very rewarding.... It could be that ONLY Panini is the one active in selling basketball cards, the other one being LEAF and UpperDeck.....(I haven't seen a box of Leaf in the store yet). It could be that....Panini has a range of different boxes that I don't see at the store. Very complicated when it comes to basketball.....The prices is what drives me to eBay sometimes or D&A CardWorld....Showtime Cards are a little overpriced but they are kind and nice to give Military Discounts and they have a rewards program. The problem is that in reality stores like Showtime and others are fighting the super surge of Internet business. Some vendors online are good with prices but NOT honest when it comes to sell boxes. Very tricky unless you dealing straight with a vendor who sells them without trying to go through 4 or 5 boxes until they land that Anthony Davis 1of1. At Showtime you can trust that they are not going to buy for themselves 4 boxes out of 12 to get that MOJO and leave the customers with so-so boxes. This is what you can trust at Showtime.. that and more. They get 4 1/2.... almost 5 star rating. They are competing with online prices but customers forget what I just mention or simply doesn't know....The experience of going in there, buying a box and getting a Auto from Jabari Parker is what makes me want to go back. You might not get that from an online retailer. My Review has been honest, from my point of view only....I read other reviews and I disagree a little bit and I agree a little bit. People are people, they have families and you don't know what that person is going through outside of Showtime...Just because they work there and its a wonderful card world, it doesn't mean that they are shielded from life and the outside world....they are fathers, brothers, cousins and have problems and bills just like everyone who walk in and out...except if you are an 11 year old. Give those guys a break....They deserve it. Good luck to the store and Ill be back sometime to pick up more cards....I want to go every saturday or sunday but Im pretty busy working at Templo Betel....Good Luck in 2016,17,18 and beyond......
Read morethere are pictures and videos online of the store owner and his son buying out entire Pokemon vending machines in order to create the illusion of scarcity. Then they put that product on their shelves for 3x the retail value. Actually insane to have allocations for wholesale amounts of product at wholesale prices and then also buy out everything nearby. The margin of profit they seek is deplorable as well as their behavior within the TCG community.
EDIT IN ORDER TO RESPOND: Even if you guys don't take the product purchased from vending machines and put them on the shelves which I highly doubt, seeing you guys run around town buying out entire machines while literally owning a card shop with access to product to rip for yourself, that's insane. Why not leave the retail priced products for the rest of Tucson. It's usually the only place most average people can afford to take part in the hobby. Because, in response to your next point, you prices are clearly not based on TCGPlayer prices or ebay listing. For example, you have Prismatic Evolutions booster packs listed for $16 on your website. The retail value of them is $4.50, market prices is $13 and there are tons of listing of them in the range of $7 - $10. Therefor, you're quite a big percentage above even market. And this is simply one single example. I could list more. Why not rip your wholesale purchased product as it cost less for you the take part. Why buy out entire machines? Could easily leave some for others instead of buying so much that every single sku gets removed and the...
Read moreI had went into the shop about a week before a Pokémon drop and spoke to the owner to confirm if they were participating in the redrop and confirm what the price would be. I was told it would be msrp (around 60$), so on the day of the drop I skipped the game stop lines and went straight there. I waited two hours just to insure I got this item. When they opened the staff member I spoke with said he knew nothing of that and offered to call the owner and ask, I was appreciative of this and was hoping it was a miss understanding. The employee told me the owner said “he never said that” and he could do it for 120$, DOUBLE the price he originally told me and my wife said to just buy it because now this was my best option having missed out on GameStop. I went over to FINDERS KEEPERS OF TUCSON knowing they would be around that same price and the owner there brought his price down 30$ to 120$ so I could not have to get it from showtime. I won’t be...
