This review is specifically for one stylist at this Ulta location. A friend recommended her stylist, Angela, who did a lovely job on my friend's hair. It was 2 months ago but I was so shocked by how I was treated that I didn't have the energy to get this review out until now. First, I was informed that haircut appointments were an hour. Angela was over 15 mins late. At Ulta, you can see the workstations of the stylists clearly. I could see Angela chatting with the previous client the whole 15 mins. I waited patiently assuming that I would still get the time allotted. Second, as I told Angela what I needed and how frustrated I was and what I needed done to my hair, with very clear photos, she stood there looking extremely annoyed. Then she abruptly cut me off and told me that I was there for a HAIRCUT. I explained that I wanted to give her the whole picture before I made a 2nd appointment for highlights. She then rudely and condescendingly told me that my haircut was the same one I was asking for. When I told her it looked completely different from the photos I had provided, she kept insisting I was wrong and she was the wrong stylist for me. Third, she then proceeded to blame me for taking so long to explain things and now there wasn't enough time to do a haircut. I pointed out how long she kept me waiting and she ignored me and proceeded, for a 3rd time, to tell me she was not the stylist for me. WHO does that??? I know I should have walked out but I really needed a haircut. She finally decided to do it, telling me the whole time it wasn't her fault if it didn't turn out. Fourth, she barely washed my hair. I think a lot was still dry underneath. She whisked me in and out, rushing to get through the appointment, I guess. Fifth, I had neglected to tell her I knew my friend, a regular customer of hers, and you should have seen the change that came over her. It was if now she was okay with doing my hair. Wow. Sixth, she wisked through my haircut and I was escorted out within 40 mins of being seated. Just a few days after this, I went to another stylist recommended to me on Nextdoor. She told me that my hair was not cut right and spent a long time correcting it. So I got to pay for 2 haircuts in a row because of my experience at Ulta. Just an added note, at least at this Broadway Tucson location, it is literally like a puppy mill. There are not waiting chairs and you feel like just a number, not a valued, possible...
Read moreI went in the other day to see the stylist Sahara for a straighten and trim. Usually I have no problem with her and normally her work is very good. My experience this last time was unusual and disheartening. Upon waiting patiently for 30 minutes after my appointment started, mind you I have no issue with this I totally understand schedules get thrown off, I was asked once in the chair what I was here for. I said I wanted my hair trimmed and styled (this was stated at time of booking repeatedly), she asked if I wanted a silk press. I didn’t think and was never explicitly told saying yes to a silk press meant forgoing a trim. Every other salon I’ve been to includes that so I was under the impression when agreeing this would be the case.
Instead she quickly washes and straightens my hair and tells me to come back in 3 months to trim my hair stating it doesn’t need to be trimmed at the moment. I haven’t had a hair cut in a year, 3 months was not going to make a difference. I let it go at the time, especially considering she was servicing another client at the same time, and I didn’t want to be an inconvenience. I sat on it overnight, but ultimately was unhappy with how frizzy the ends looked in response so I called the next day to ask for a haircut. Only then was I informed that a silk press does not include a trim and I would have to pay an additional $57 to get my haircut. Mind you the silk press costed $90. When asked why I wasn’t informed saying yes to a silk press meant I was saying no to a haircut, she immediately got on the defensive and said we could look at the cameras and that she asked me if I wanted a silk press.
She would not provide an answer for why I wasn’t explicitly told saying yes to a silk press meant saying no to a haircut. My main issue here isn’t the lack of services at this point, it was her lack of communication and her blatant disregard and hostility when trying to resolve the issue, even if her only answer was it was a misunderstanding I would’ve accepted that over her defensiveness, abruptness and unwillingness to work with me to at least provide answers. I was calm throughout this whole exchange, didn’t raise my voice, didn’t name call, I wasn’t accusatory just confused. The discussion did not warrant the reaction and I’m incredibly disappointed by this sudden change as like I said earlier she was very pleasant and her...
Read moreI give this 4 stars because of how one of the stylists barely saved my hair. I went in asking for my hair to be cut jaw length and all the same length. When they took the cover off me the hair in the front was jaw length and the rest fell down to my neck. I just got off work so it actually looked like she cut around my work shirt collar. I have been to ulta twice before with someone else who isn’t there anymore. Every time after work and the collar was never a problem… anyways, I don’t mean to be rude but the woman working on my hair seemed to be in such a rush. She was snipping fast, and drying my hair she was rocking me in the seat. I have health conditions that causes nerve pain in my head , scalp, neck (trigeminal neuralgia.. also not that she knew but omg it was she was so rough) I don’t think anyone would’ve found that comforting. It was a few times she had to ask for help from someone else and each time I wished that other person just stayed because it seemed that they knew what they were doing 😭. Eventually that other stylist helped with very very gentle steady hands that I was grateful for. But in addition to this experience, this was the first time I left ulta with wet hair and -like not blow dried or straightened (when I turned back for them to fix it they just sprayed and cut more) So it Lowkey feels like I got ripped off and took a shot at my confidence because I can barely accept my hair. It’s actually still uneven on one side but now I’m gunna go back a third time for them to fix it again 😓? Neck all scratched up. So yeah I’m a little sad and feeling a little ugly. I was going to ulta the past couple years and I wanna keep going but now I’m back to being afraid with finding a new stylist (am I not supposed to get attached to...
