There is nothing I can think of that justifies how expensive this store is or why I should continue to shop at it. They have no interesting products, rarely anything new, amateurish at keeping things in stock, constantly pulling items and not replacing them, offer next to nothing in the way of saving the consumer money — no house brand/generic, except best choice but I don’t really consider that discount anymore because it’s not that much cheaper and more expensive than name-brand on some things. There is nothing I can think of that sets them apart or makes them special, No longer 24/7 (which I am extremely unhappy about, to say the least) no longer locally owned/just another anonymous out of state corporate owned box.
So why are the prices so high? Couldn’t tell you! There’s no gourmet other the cheese section, but everyone has that now, no imported foods, no specialty, no discounts, nothing local to speak of, meat and produce - unremarkable, bakery and deli/ready-made meals - dismal and inedible mass-produced junk, the atmosphere is dehumanizing - so it’s not because of “the pleasant shopping experience,” that’s for sure, particularly this location with the super bright stadium style lights, coupled with the atrocious music they play in this store which is consistently irritating and annoying as hell, no matter the genre, literally torture at times (like when they’re rocking the Christian-country jams; I realize that some ppl might like that sort of thing, but I’d rather throw up in my mouth than have to be subjected to that). The staff clearly hate their jobs - indicative of a company that doesn’t take care of their employees or treat them particularly well.
Basically Reasor’s has turned into Walmart neighborhood market, same level quality, similar shopping experience, attitude of employees, and level of costumer service, but with less and worse selection, and of course, at a huge mark up. They don’t really do sales or specials, when they do, it’s usually a gimmick, like “2 for $9,” when the regular price is $5; so essentially one dollar off. Oh and they’re price gouging things at 100% mark up on items that can be easily found from other retailers at the correct market value price, for instance, propel powders that they’ve marked up almost 100% in the last six months from around $4.27 to now almost $8.00 and calling it “inflation.” They’ve done this on several items I get regularly. Unacceptable, and as per the 118th CONGRESS, 2d Session, S. 3803, price gouging bill once it’s signed into law, if it hasn’t been already this type of predatory pricing will become illegal and I’m tempted to report it, bc I’m so annoyed with this company.
I’ve been shopping at Reasor’s almost exclusively for the last 20 years mainly for two reasons, because they were open 24/7 and it was locally owned. But now that that is no longer the case I see no reason not to take my business elsewhere, and can we please get a good grocery store if it must be from Texas, like Kroger or Tom Thumb and kick these losers to the curb?!
2 stars for the...
Read moreHave never once been to this store wherein I've been able to find everything I want or need at the time I'm there !! They are ALWAYS out of stock on any number of items I buy on a regular basis. Now....why is that? There has to be a way grocery stores calculate how much of a product is being purchased -- on a regular basis -- by customers. If that's indeed the case, why then are products I need not available ON A REGULAR BASIS ??? I "use" to be able to find 2-lb bags of frozen green beans. Suddenly, could not find them ANYWHERE. I called, asked to speak to a manager, and when he came on the line, I asked, why no more 2-lb bags of frozen green beans. This is what I was told, "Well, manufacturers have discovered that people aren't having big families anymore, so it's been decided (by these manufacturers ...) to decrease the packaging size to better accommodate the needs of today's families." And that's a DIRECT QUOTE !!! I don't give a rat's beee-hind about big families or small families. What I DO care about is having to spend MORE MONEY on two 1-lb bags of frozen green beans than I USE to have to spend on one 2-lb bag of frozen green beans. THAT'S what I care about !!! On yet another stop at this store, we found a "manager" who swore to me she'd make absolutely positively sure that Reasors would again begin carrying 2-lb bags of its frozen green beans. That was more than 2 months ago. To date, no such bags can be found in either the Yale store or the 15th/Lewis store. I've lived in this city since 1960, and distinctly recall having a wide choice of quality grocery stores, which even included Warehouse Market at the time. Now .... there's a whole different grocery store animal out there, and not a wide variety of them -- AT ALL. One would think a city of this size could at least have decent, quality food stores. NADA !!!! And this isn't ALL about frozen green beans; this is just one example, only...
Read moreLesson learned the hard way. No one is protecting you not even the store. No one cares more about your health than you! This is the best Reasors in Tulsa and the people are very nice but they have no control over the produce and products. You are responsible for protecting yourself. Again, this is my favorite store and I do not blame anyone but myself. You can learn the hard way or you can learn the easy way: I bought a package of celery for .88 cents. I took a bite tasting pure chemicals without swallowing and spit it out and quickly washed my mouth out. The store says - you are never to eat produce without washing it first. They did have a bag of prewashed and toxic FREE and no pesticide and no chemical - celery for about $2.48 per bag. I bought two. Lesson learned the hard way. No one is protecting you not even the store. No one cares more about your health than you! The celery for $2.48 stated pre-washed and pesticides chemical free . I am learning. Don't be like me. Read more often! The cheap olive oil is compromised or diluted. Put your bottle of olive oil in the refrigerator overnight and if it does not congealed like glue then you know if not real or it's compromised. The California Ranch olive oil costs more but it always congeals like glue when I test it in the refrigerator. Again, it's not the stores fault. You have to learn this yourself. Guess which olive oil that restaurants are using? If the olive oil is diluted with unhealthy oils then your health is also compromised. It's not the stores fault what you choose to buy or what you choose to eat. You are responsible for the decisions that you make. Actions have...
