I am absolutely appalled by the service I received at Hair Social in Tysonâs. I had the misfortune of being attended to by a young male employee who was completely unqualified and clearly had no idea what he was doing. I requested a trimâjust a few inches offâand a bright balayage. Instead, I left the salon in tears. He hacked off 6-7 inches of my hair and left me with uneven layers that were blatantly lopsided. The balayage? It was a disasterâthick chunks of blonde slapped onto random sections of my hair, leaving me with harsh tiger-like stripes.
On top of everything, I was initially charged a shocking $630 for this mess! When I contested it and explained I had only requested a cut and balayage, they begrudgingly reduced the charge to $430âbut even that felt like daylight robbery given the results. And no, I wasnât informed of any quote or pricing prior to the service. I had browsed prices online and was happy to pay according to the prices listed.
Mortified and devastated, I returned to the salon, and the owner agreed to fix the damage the following morning. To her credit, she did spend hours trying to undo the catastrophe and was genuinely apologetic, even taking photos and shaking her head at her employee's shoddy work. At the end of the appointment, she assured me that if I wasnât fully satisfied, I could come back for additional fixesâincluding a toner and root melt, as my hair was still far from what I had originally wanted.
At that point, I felt hopeful, which is why I held off on writing this review for two months. However, when I called recently to schedule a follow-up service, I was met with utter disappointment. The front desk consulted with the owner, who not only remembered my situation but also backtracked on her promise. I was told I would now have to pay for any further fixes. I am beyond frustrated and disheartened by this blatant lack of accountability.
This was not just a simple mistake that could be rectified in one sessionâthis was a severe mishandling of my hair and trust. Hair Social has shown they are unwilling to follow through on their commitments to make things right. Save yourself the trouble and take your business elsewhere.
To make matters worse, when I was standing at the reception desk in tears, this same employee casually dismissed my devastation, saying, âItâs just hair,â before leaving for the night. If itâs just hair, then why was fixing his catastrophic mistake...

I booked the Platinum HydraFacial for $325, which includes lymphatic therapy, LED light treatment, a medical-grade booster, and manual extractions. At one point during the session, the aesthetician handed me a mirror â not as part of the process, but because I couldnât show her which acne I wanted extracted without it. I used it a few times to guide her, but during extractions, I let her do her job.
Despite over an hour of treatment, I went home with multiple acne spots â especially on my chin â that still had visible yellow buildup. These were not deep cysts, but surface acne that had been touched yet left incompletely cleaned.
To be clear, my criticism is not of the aesthetician personally, but of the clinicâs overall service quality and refusal to take responsibility. I contacted them through multiple professional emails to request a refund. They declined, citing protocol, product costs, and the amount of time spent â while ignoring the core issue: the outcome did not match the promise.
In one email, they even wrote: âIf you do decide to post a review, we will respond consistently with what weâve shared here.â This made it clear they were more concerned with controlling the narrative than addressing a clientâs experience.
After I declined to purchase recommended products at checkout, the conversation ended abruptly. The entire experience left me feeling that upselling mattered more than treatment results.
I wonât be returning and do not recommend this clinic to anyone seeking thorough care, professional accountability, or...
Read moreThis was my first time at HS and also my first time getting my hair professionally dyed. I came in for a simple single-color touch-up on my grey roots. Initially, the process felt a bit rushed. The stylist worked on my right side while the assistant handled the left, and unfortunately, when I left the salon, I noticed visible patches of grey still showing on the left side of my head.
When I returned, Maria, the stylist, redid the color herself and applied it carefully, row by row. This time, the results were exactly what I had hoped for. While the total experience took about three hours, I appreciated the way the situation was handled and that the correction was done with care.
One thing to note is that while the salon seemed well-stocked with a variety of hair products, they didnât have any specifically for curly hair during my visit. Normally, salons apply curl products and use a diffuser, since I prefer to leave with my natural waves. Instead, I ended up with a full blowout, which wasnât my usual style.
Despite a few bumps along the way, Iâm happy with how my hair turned out in the end. I also really appreciate Mariaâs professionalism and the effort she put into making things right. Mistakes happen, but how theyâre handled makes all the difference, and I left feeling satisfied with the...
