My vet was closed on Sunday and my pup had been having GI issues for over 24hrs so I called VEG and was immediately transferred to Dr Davenport who listen to all my concerns and suggested I bring Bertie in to be checked out. I was sent a link via text to check in online and when I arrived I was walked straight back and seen immediately by Dr Davenport. I knew emergency vet care wouldn’t be cheap but when you’re worried about your pet and they can’t tell you how they feel you have to find out what’s going on. Our experience was 10/10 the entire time. First off the facility is nicer than most human clinics. Modern, clean and comfortable. More importantly the staff were all fantastic. From Dr Davenport to the techs and the front desk staff, everyone treated us with compassion, kindness, professionalism and respect. My dog was extremely scared and the fact I was able to hold him and be with him during his tests and treatments made all the difference and something I haven’t been able to do at any vet visit since Covid started. We were given an estimate and list of suggested testing and I opted to do as much of a comprehensive check up as possible which included blood work, fecal tests and X-rays. Everything was completed efficiently and we were given onsite results and a treatment plan and meds to go home with. Our whole visit was completed within two hours and after my dog was given fluids for dehydration and a shot for his nausea we came home where he has continued to feel better throughout the day. Our visit helped put my mind at ease that nothing life threatening was going on which is always a concern especially for a senior dog and also gave us the tools to continue his recovery at home. Thank you to all the wonderful staff and I can’t recommend this practice enough if you have a vet emergency and your regular provider is closed or can’t get you in. Yes it’s going to cost more but our pets are family and it’s our responsibility to give them the best we can especially when they can’t tell us how they feel!

I had an absolutely amazing experience with VEG. My cat was having multiple seizures that needed several medications to control over the 36 hours we were at VEG. We were triaged immediately and rapidly when we arrived, and I felt that he got excellent care at every step of his hospitalization. He made huge improvements by the time he was discharged, and I attribute his success to the care he received. I appreciated the fact that I was able to stay with my cat 24/7 if I wanted to, and did spend one of the nights with him, which made such a huge difference in terms of my anxiety about a very stressful situation. I also liked being included in rounds so that I could hear all of the things that were being done and felt a part of the decision making process. Every single provider was wonderful, and made me feel like my cat was being carefully and thoughtfully taken care of. All three doctors, Dr. Foley, Dr. De Armas, and Dr. Barnes were excellent, answered all of my many questions, and kept me updated about my cat’s status. They all also have exceptional bedside manner and made me feel so comfortable leaving my cat in their care. Unfortunately I can’t remember all of the techs’ and nurses’ names, but Caitlin and Katherine were so kind and caring to both my cat and myself. I could not have imagined a better experience in an emergency situation and if anything were to ever happen in the future, would absolutely be back at VEG.

My boy Kitty and I stayed here for 24 hours a few days ago, and I cannot thank this team enough. Every single doctor and staff member I met was incredibly kind, compassionate, and professional. They kept me involved in every step, explaining things clearly, answering all of my questions with patience, and being honest without ever losing empathy. They never pushed unnecessary tests or pressured my decisions, but they gently guided me when I felt lost while facing some of the hardest choices of my life. I could see that they truly cared for Kitty—checking on him often, handling him gently, and making sure he was as comfortable as possible given his condition. Even during shift changes, each new doctor was completely up to speed, which gave me confidence that Kitty was always in good hands. Sadly, his illness was too advanced, and I made the difficult decision to say goodbye shortly after our stay. The team handled that process with the same kindness, respect, and dignity they had shown from the start. I’m especially grateful that they allowed me to stay with him the entire 24 hours—it meant the world to have that time together in a quiet, comfortable room during what became his final days. Thank you to the entire team for your care, compassion, and professionalism. I will always be grateful for the way you treated both Kitty and me.

I do not normally write reviews but felt so strongly after my visit here that I needed to warn others of our experience. My gf and I brought our cat in early on Monday morning because she wasn't breathing too well due to an illness she contracted over the weekend. Because of this, she was having trouble eating and drinking and we wanted her to get better as soon as possible and getting into a normal vet around here can take time. We decided to bring her because we wanted her to be better as soon as possible so she could breath better and eat more than she was.

We arrived around 7 in the morning to an empty clinic and we were helped immediately by a couple of the vet techs that were there, about 10 in all. They were terrific and did a routine check up on our kitten Nova and asked all the questions they needed to. But unfortunately this would be the end of our good service. After the checkup they said they would put our kitten in the oxygen machine for about 15 minutes until the doctor was able to come check on her. Let's just say 15 minutes somehow turned into TWO AND A HALF HOURS. And only one, maybe two emergencies came in during that time.

I understand we weren't the highest of priority but they had no one else coming in for a majority of the time we were there yet the doctor somehow could not take 5 minutes of their time to help us and get us out of there. During the first 15 minutes or so of waiting we had a couple vet techs check on us and ask if we needed anything such as drinks or a snack. But, during the remainder of our two and a half hour wait no one came to check on us besides an occasional person claiming we were next up for the doctor to see, but being next up apparently means not even close to being seen.

When the doctor came out she conveniently went and talked to people who came in HOURS AFTER US first, even though they were no more of an emergency than our kitty. In fact it seemed another group had brought their kitten in for the same reason and symptoms as us. But still we had to sit their and wait to be seen while she talked to them first. When the time came we had the unfortunate opportunity to meet and be seen by Dr. Wong who was more interested in our money than helping our cat.

She talked to us for about five minutes to start and then she made sure we had a bill ready for us BEFORE she even began looking at our cat. In total she spent about 10 minutes with us between talking and examining our kitty. After that, luckily we did not need to talk with her any more as she made a snarky and rude comment towards us. The vet techs gave our kitty her shots and the medicine we needed and we were finally on our way, THREE HOURS LATER, when in total this visit should have been at most 30 minutes. But I understand because after speaking with Dr. Wong it seems their priority is money and not the care of your animal. But they can have two stars because the vet techs who helped us were very nice and prompt when they weren't being held up...

I lost my mom to brain cancer a month before my husband and I ran into the doors of VEG carrying our big guy. Our dog had TPLO surgery and the following day I noticed he had severe bloat and labored breathing. From the phone call to VEG, the moment of arrival until King was discharged we received exceptional service and care. Dr. Foley was the first person to immediately care for King and thoroughly explained his situation and the need for GDV surgery. The level of knowledge, expertise, empathy, professionalism and the list could go on of Dr. Foley was above and beyond. She performed GDV surgery on King saving his life, and with having gone through such a life changing event shortly before this moment- I felt so calm, supported, safe and trusting the entire time we were at VEG. How can I put into words that Dr. Foley not only saved King's life, but she saved mine as well. King had to stay a few days and the level of care provided by his daytime nurse (I'm so sorry I forgot her name), Dr. Taylor and Dr. Story were phenomenal as well. Their ability to care for him and to relate to us, as well as continually keep us informed, comforted and answer all and any question we had goes unmatched. The nightshift nurse and doctor were also phenomenal, but we did not stay overnight to interact with them as much as the daytime staff (though we were offered to stay the night which was amazing). Even the staff who were not on Kingston's case were so very caring. We were allowed in King's kennel and near King at all times during his stay, we were also invited into the operating room if we wanted to be in there. For having such a big emergency and an extremely heartbreaking time, they made it a much more easy experience on us and, most importantly, on King. I would highly recommend this place hands down.

In addition to their incredible response to and care for animals' emergency, they don't know what the animals' people have recently been through or just how special the animal is they're saving and caring for. King and I took care of my mom as she was on Hospice in home. King stayed by her side and provided so much love and support to my mom throughout her brain cancer journey, and he has lovingly been by our side these last 10.5 years of our lives. He is truly a beautiful spirit they saved, and like I said above they didn't only save King's life- they saved ours as well. After three long days, and because of them, King is now home safe and sound, happy and healthy. The biggest of thank yous and the highest of recommendations to VEG Falls Church, VA and the entire staff.

The photos are of King with my mom as she was in her Hospice bed - he would just stay by her bedside protecting and comforting her and one photo outside as his favorite thing is to be outside - and then the last photo is him home resting and comfy after his stay at VEG. Thank you, thank...

We had the most amazing experience, during the hardest time we’ve had in forever, all because of the staff and facilities at the Falls Church VEG. If I could give them 10 stars out of 5, I would!

Our dear Chloe was VERY sick when we came in and the ability to spend the night in the same room with her as we made hour by hour decisions was something our family will forever be grateful for.

We were given all the information, in a very compassionate way, and their every-2-hour-blood-tests-even-through-the-night over a 36 hour period (which felt like 2 weeks to us because of the emotional exhaustion,) along with the ultrasound that gave us what was truly happening inside her allowed us to make the best decisions for our girl. We were able to keep her on proper pain meds to keep her comfortable while watching trends. But in the end, it was too much for her little body.

We experienced 4 different vets and numerous veterinary nurses and every single one of them was above par and wonderful. From wanting to know if we wanted any of the free snacks/coffee/sodas up front to being direct, but kind, about what was happening, each individual at that location was kind, compassionate, and professional, and at all hours of the day & night.

We cannot recommend them highly enough! We are still only 3 days since we had to make “the call” and we are still grieving heavily. But the experience that we had at VEG helped us be completely informed, and when we made the call, we knew there was nothing else we could have done at that point. It was the necessary thing to do, and we have no questions or regrets, because the staff kept us up to date and were completely supportive.

After it was done, we sat in our private room, still holding Chloe, and cried and then laughed at memories. We were in there for about 90 minutes as a family laughing & crying, and when it was time to go, it was the right time for us as a family.

Again, I cannot say ENOUGH about the kindness and compassion that every single staff member gave us during this terrible time. And again, we cannot recommend them highly enough.

I hope that YOUR experience with VEG is better and you can bring your pup home with you! I know if your pup is in better health than ours was, you will have more than a fighting chance, because the team there is so knowledgeable and professional.

I think I’m babbling now, but I just want to thank everyone who was a part of our journey there, and for making it so much better than we have experienced at any other emergency vet that we’ve ever been to in the US! (Retired military so we’ve been west coast, Florida, and all over the place with many experiences for decades now…)

THANK...
