Definitely a fun experience! If you bring a big family, it's going to cost you but compared to other family attractions, this one is pretty affordable to today's standards. If you have a beginner skater, they rent these items called a Skate Mate, which basically looks like a walker and will give the new skater confidence on the skate floor. My 10-year-old son did not want to use it at first because he thought he was too cool. But when he saw lots of adults and other kids his age using them, he decided to try it. But then 20 minutes he was zooming around the floor.
Now let's get to the food portion. First of all, I didn't have high expectations since this was a snack bar at a skating rink. With that being said, I was pleasantly surprised how good the pizza was. Now, we're not talking gourmet pizza and it's probably not the best I've ever had, but it was actually really, really good! There is popcorn, soft pretzels, icees, soft drinks and lots of fun items for kids. I really don't like that. They sell energy drinks like Monster and Red Bull, allowing young children to buy them freely but that can...
Read moreWe've been coming regularly for a couple months now and are very pleased. The rink is large and clean with a whole seperate space for beginners or Littles who aren't ready to skate with a crowd. Speaking of safety: they do have an employee on the floor to enforce the rules but I still see the same people every week breaking the rules (skating backward/jumping/tricks outside of the center) regularly. Not sure if these ppl are just careful to do this when no one is watching or if the teen employees don't feel comfortable approaching adults who are misbehaving. There's also frequently kids racing or skating the wrong direction, which is a hazard but fairly typical. Regardless, it's better than some other places we've gone and the main floor is large enough to navigate around the hazards once you have enough experience to "graduate" from the seperate beginning area.
The music is a little dated, but still very enjoyable. The prices for admission, rentals, and snacks are very reasonable, esp since the participate in the "kids skate free" program. We plan to have my son's birthday here...
Read moreWe went during Open Skate on Thursday afternoon, I took my twin 3 year old sons, my 8 year old son and my 9 year old son. They all had a BLAST. There were perfect little plastic skates to go over the twins' shoes, which I didn't even know was a thing, but the staff was great about helping me find an option for the boys to skate and hang with the "big kids." The arcade area was well kept, only a couple machines out of order, but the kids had a blast anyway. The carpet looked immaculate, the concession area was in great shape. The only thing that brought down the experience (but only slightly) was the small training rink area in the corner needs the floor fixed. It was very rough for the 3 year olds to try to skate on, they kept falling on that floor but easily remained upright on the main rink. Sorry for the long review, but I was just excited that we had such a great experience on our outing - it is normally hard to please everyone when you have 4 kids, but this place did the trick. We will be coming...
