When this store first opened years ago, staff were available and knew their stuff. Products that home-owners needed were well-stocked, well-organized and well-marked. Now, I dread going to this place--it's hard to find any help for long periods of time, and even harder to get information that helps me. The inventory is often pathetic...how many times have I gone to get, say, two knobs for a drawer, but they only have one in the store...I'm told it's out-of-stock" or "Hmmm, maybe it's discontinued" or "Hmmm, maybe it's available at another store", or "Hmmm, maybe they moved it to in an isle on the other side of the giant warehouse shell"...If this happened once in a blue-moon that's one thing--it's happened to me a lot....The store also isn't well-lit and clean compared to Lowe's or even other HD stores I've visited...Perhaps the store is better-suited for home repair or construction contractors/trades-people? I need a window screen repaired. Haha. I need help choosing one of thirty-seven different brands and types of wood glue? ...should have brought my iPad to google for half-an-hour...The Information Desk seems to be only for professionals/bulk purchases...Most of the employees seem like they would be happier elsewhere...Some seem genuinely interested in helping, but management works against them or they are just in over their heads. Often, staff seem clueless in the merchandise and/or customer-service professionalism...One evening I ran to the store to get a replacement light-bulb for my desk lamp, and as I approached the lighting area, a frustrated-looking employee stomped passed me saying to himself "man, I HATE working here..."...And he's being paid to be there...Bottom-Line, I will either go a longer distance to Lowe's in Union or the Home Depot on RT 10. Maybe the regional accountant for HD is happy, but I haven't met anyone else who is. It seems a management problem, perhaps at the regional level? I guess they make their numbers well-enough with people other than home-owners in need...
Read moreMy experience with Home Depot in Union, NJ, has been extremely disappointing and frustrating. I purchased a product in-store with the understanding that it would be delivered within a week. However, a month has passed, and I am still without the product I paid for.
The main issue is the complete lack of communication and consistency among the staff. I have made between 6 to 8 phone calls to the store, speaking with different staff members each time. Every single one assured me that the product was in stock but waiting for assembly. This continued for weeks, and I was patient, believing that my purchase was on its way.
To my dismay, a manager finally informed me that not only was my product not in stock, but it would never be available. This revelation came after a month of empty promises and repeated false information from their own employees. This level of incompetence is inexcusable.
Furthermore, while I waited for this product that would never arrive, Home Depot charged my credit card. After the manager's admission that the product was canceled, it took additional time and effort to get the charge reversed.
The complete lack of transparency, poor communication, and false information provided by Home Depot in Union, NJ, has left me frustrated and dissatisfied with their service. I expected better from a company of their size and reputation. I would caution anyone considering making a purchase from this location to think twice and consider...
Read moreOK first off I am soley a Home Depot customer, I'm not a fan of Lowes at all.
You didn't like paying cashiers so you added self checkout. That wasn't good enough so you made it self checkout only. You didn't like that either. I guess we weren't good cashiers... well you get what you pay for. Now you have all the self checkout registers closed so that we can't self checkout without the sole front end employee directly supervising even if they're completely clueless. The store is a complete train wreck and you never have anything anymore. You get mad if we use the ladders but there are no associates around. If you do find a person and it's not on the shelf they just say we don't have that and then I have to argue that I can see it in top stock. Let's be real... if they can't be bothered to stock shelves they certainly aren't going up a ladder to get one item for you. I've actually seen an employee go up, open a box, take out 1 item for me, then, leave the rest of the box up there instead of restocking the empty shelf. Lately at least half my trips to the store result in an Amazon order (and a better price) as I leave empty handed. The only benefit in going to the store is having it right now and you've screwed that up. How much worse can you make the customer experience all while crying that Amazon and the internet are taking all...
