My husband delivered the baby because there was no nurses and no doctor in the room (and they wouldn't put it in the birth certificate paperwork).
Less than two hours before the baby was born I was told, "We might send you home. You're not diallated enough" - even though my contractions were TWO MINUTES APART...!
When the nurse finally came in the room, saw my husband ready to catch the baby, with gloves on, and... SHE TOOK A STEP BACK.
I had wanted an epidural but since no one believed me that I was having the baby soon (baby #4) then I didn't even get asked if i wanted to get the epidural.
The 3 days I spent there wasn't pleasant either. Sometimes they forgot my meal or my husband's meal The floors were NASTY - you could see the line on the floor where the water from the shower had eroded the floor. And when I cleaned up a small mess I made my wet wipe came up blaaaaack! They never got a lactation consultant until after I asked for one. The baby wasn't given a bath. (They wiped her with a wipe, missed all her folds, and cleaned her hair in the BATHROOM sink, it was weird. When I brought her home and bathed her she still had white birthing stuff all over her neck, hands, toes, and armpits. !! They didn't provide a onsie, gloves, socks, or nail filer for the newborn! They put a short-sleeved crop-top on her, and a diaper - that was it 🤦♀️ A newborn needs gloves and/or a nail filer so they don't scratch themselves. And a newborn needs clothes and socks to not get too cold, yet they didn't provide something that basic. I had ripped during the birth and they had no birthing icepacks to offer (they are basically like a pad, but really long, big, and it includes an icepack. Specifically for women who just gave birth). And instead where giving me normal icepacks... which you can't stick in your underwear, they're just too square. And the only reason they were even giving them to me at all was because I had to keep asking for them. Most hospitals they just give you your own supply. The room we were in had torn curtains. The wall outlets were locked, turned off, or blocked. So good luck charging your phone... The only reason we were able to is because we asked a nurse if we could charge our dead phones on the outlet that was marked red, like it was reserved for something important [it was behind my bed]. There was no bed for my husband. Many of the drawers and cabinets were broken. So we didn't bother putting our stuff in them even though that's what they're supposed to be for. There was no big, comfortable chair to breastfeed my daughter in (most other maternity wards have them). The very last nurse was the most incompetent... I had to ask FOUR times for things I needed and she just kept walking out and not coming back till I'd press the call button hours later. Also... 1a. She forgot to discharge us... We were waiting for about 5+ hours because she left to put our discharge papers in... and just forgot. We finally called to see what was going on and instead of taking responsibility she started blaming other people. 2a. She cut me with the scissors as she was cutting off my hospital bracelet and IV needle. 3a. She followed us to our car - without explaining why - and then didn't even properly check the baby's carseat... 4a. Wouldn't listen to us when we said we didn't want to stop by the pharmacy to pick up pain medication - it was literally all over-the-counter stuff we already had at home. [The pharmacy called us an hour after we left to see when we were coming to pick up].
P.s. there was one nurse that I thought was very sweet but then... when I tried to tell her things I needed (bigger socks cause the ones I was wearing was cutting off my circulation, a new hospital gown because I was still wearing the one I gave birth in and it had blood on it, my IV needle out because I hadn't been hooked up to anything in about 72hrs anyway) she instead said, "just press the call button and tell them what you need". Why...
Read moreWhere do I even start with what happened to me at this hospital? I would give a less then zero stars if I could for the treatment alone. I went to this hospital back in August of 2022. It has taken me awhile to make this post cuz as a new believer I wasn't sure I should but now thinking about it I sure wouldn't want any of my loved ones or anyone at all for that matter to experience this type of treatment. It was Aug 10th 2022 my third visit that week to San Antonio hospital. They couldn't figure out what was wrong with me. I had these symptoms: heart palpitations in my neck, numbness everywhere on my body even my teeth., I was seeing double, I felt like I was going to pass out kinda drunk, I really could barely walk. I basically felt like I was going to die. They ran tests and sent me home each time with a nausea medicine from the dizziness, I was seeing double and all. Third visit they made me wait in the waiting room 14 hours on purpose. They didn't believe me. The nurses and staff treated me terrible that day. I assured them I wasn't drug seeking just in case that was in their heads. I requested a room with at least a chair with arms on it cuz that's how out of it I was. They didn't do that so I had my own pillow and blanket so I laid on the floor. They didn't like that at all but I waited an extra hour and a half for a room with a chair and they still didn't do it. I could barely move. The doctor saw me for less then 5 minutes and next I knew the hospital security grabbed me off the floor and literally threw me in the wheelchair. I had bruises everywhere on my arms from this. I cried and begged to be seen by someone else. They rolled me across the street to the homeless park at midnight and dumbed me yes literally picked up the chair and pushed me out of it. I was so scared to go to another hospital or anywhere afterwards I went home and prayed for answers. It was one of the meds I started almost 2 months before giving me these side effects. My primary care doctor said if I hadn't had God tell me about that medication that I might be died. Being a doctor at a hospital you'd think one of the first things you'd look at or for would be med lists of...
Read moreHow professional, looks like they deleted the first review I left last night! I came into this emergency room with concerning symptoms regarding my pregnancy. They were quick to run tests, but after that we sat and waited..and waited..and WAITED…9 hours later and I finally decided to say something. The young girls and (1) guy at the desk were all rude, giggling and laughing and talking the whole time, drawing pictures on sticky notes and acting like children. They didn’t care to answer any questions for patients, any question you had they just said 🤷🏻♀️ “sorry”. I finally found out that my test results had come in but was just waiting for the doctor to review them with me. I waited another 2 hours and my name still had not been called!!! Meanwhile, about 15 other people that have come into the ER came and went, saw the doctor and they were on their way home! Finally there was a shift change and a couple older women nurses clocked in and the young girls went home. I talked to one of the older nurses about my situation and she got right on it, and had the doctor help me within minutes!!! When I had asked one of the younger girls about seeing the doctor her response was “the doctor isn’t just sitting back there hanging out, they have things to do” oh, I’m so sorry, I’ve been here for almost 10 hours, I didn’t know I was gonna have to wait half a day just to get my test results. Once I saw the doctor it took 2 mins at the most to tell me my results. Again, I am pregnant and in pain, and could hardly use the restroom that was available to ER patients because it was extremely dirty and disgusting! Feces and urine in and around each clogged toilet. Paper towels and toilet paper and toilet water all over the floors. I ended up asking if I could use one of the restrooms in the back because that one was so gross! Also, the vending machine that had drinks, didn’t even work. So if you got thirsty during your 10 hour wait…oh well! I will never return to this ER. Beyond terrible. I went to Pomona valley a couple months ago and they were 2x’s as busy as San Antonio ER, and I was home within 6 hours at Pomona! Don’t...
