Changing my review and taking my loyalty and business elsewhere after all these years. (Been coming here since 2007.) Here are the facts: I dropped my watch off on 11/21. I was told by the owner that he would call me with an estimate. (He sends the watches to someone else for what my watch needed.) He said it could be as long as 6 to 8 weeks. He said not to call him...that calling him does not speed up the process....that he is at the mercy of the guy he sends them to. Yada...yada...yada. (I've read the other reviews. I knew why I was getting the lecture. ((See other Google reviews.)) You might be wondering why, after reading the other google reviews, I would still give him my business. I am loyal. I like supporting small local businesses. It used to be on my way home from work. I used to think he was autistic. I tend to root for the underdog? I don't know. I'll bring it up with my therapist.) I leave my watch with him. Today marks the 3 month mark. I called him on my way to work. No reply. I called him after work, and he answered. I explained the situation. He located my ticket. He does not know why he never called. He apologized and said, "It will be 55$. Do you want to get it fixed?" I say, "Yes." He says, "OK, I'll call you when it's ready." Then I say, in a normal non-Karen voice, "You know, you told me not to call you. I've been without out a watch for three months." (Fatal mistake when dealing with a Soup Natzi.) He says, "You know what? You can pick it up this Friday and get it repaired somewhere else," and hung up on me. True story. (Now, you may be wondering why I poked the bear with my benign statement of facts. Well, I hoped for some self-reflection. I hoped he thought to himself, "Maybe I should stop telling people not to call me since I don't have a system in place to ensure every ticket is accounted for." I thought wrong. My mistake. Inconsequentially, I now wonder if he is just a thin-skinned narcissist or if he has early onset dimensia. I mean, who in their right mind treats their customers like this? If you are related to him, please encourage him to get a check-up. This behavior...
Read moreI have tried time and time again to let Arlington Coin and Watchworks have one more opportunity but it seems as if today was my last time going in. I have been in three times.
The first time I went in, I had great customer service. I came in for a battery and it was quick and easy. I'm not sure who was working on this day but there were two big dogs there at the time.
Upon going back the second time, I believe it was Tim was who helped me out. He was extremely rude and condescending. Tim did question as to why some of the watches I brought were left handed and some were right handed watches, not sure why that was necessary. When I asked if they had a referral for a place that works on cuckoo clocks. I was told "No, it's as easy as simply googling it myself." Tim seemed inept and couldn't get the backs of my watches on. I was having a problem with one of my watches working and he told me to put it under a light to charge it in the most rude way. No shocker that the watch not getting enough light wasn't the issue and it had to be sent out for repair.
I went to pickup my watch today that was sent out for repair from the store and waited probably 30 minutes to even be helped because Tim seemed to not be able to get another customers back on their watch on. Coincidentally, their watch had to be sent out for repair due to not being able to put the back on.
I will NOT be bringing any more of my watches here or even giving them...

story: I took a vintage seiko I had there to have him open the back with his tool, I can work on watches myself (I maintain ALL my watches personally, quartz and automatic so I'm no beginner in that regard) however I didnt have the old version of seiko wrench this watch required.
I had the band removed so it was just the body, he took it from me and went to use his wrench and dropped the watch onto the hard floor and completely spider cracked / chipped the crystal (not just a hairline crack, it was literally destroyed, you could not even read the face under it anymore).
I looked at him, he looked back at me, know what he says- "you should have left the band on it so I had something to hold on to" (I was planning on swapping in a different movement and needed the band out of the way to do that work, the body / crystal had been PERFECT before this). He didnt say sorry and further more, he didnt get the back loose the first attempt, he told me if I wanted him to get the back loose I'd STILL have to pay the $10 fee even after he broke the crystal!
Final note- a new crystal ended up costing 38GBP (plus shipping from England, also purchased the old style wrench at the same time). Where can I send that bill for...
