I normally don't leave bad reviews but our experience today was nothing but horrible. The salesman was rude and disrespectful. We were looking for some umbrellas for our new pool deck. We asked many questions as any customer should be allowed and not feel like we were being an inconvenience to the salesman but he sure made us feel that why. All he cared about was getting the sale wrote up and a payment..... They must be on commission. We asked about a USB port and what it was for, the charge for the lights of to plug a phone in. His response... I'm not sure just pretend it's not there. REALLY that's your answer. We didn't take that well. Then went in the ask about the diameter of the pole. His response... I'm not sure. Okay well can you find out as we have a base we would like to use. His response it's probably an inch or inch and half. Okay so again can you find out what the diameter is? He stormed off like we were an inconvenience to him. We still continue to shop and had not given up YET.... We asked what color the pole was he said bronze. Okay... So we went onto the next umbrella. A 2000 dollar cantilever style. This was a nightmare to ask questions and get any type of straight answers. Long story short. They have two color of poles on the showroom. A dark brown(bronze) and ONE with a lighter tan. We liked the lighter tan. He said it was bronze. I asked why all the other poles were a much darker color. He said I don't know. Bad answer. I asked what color is this and what color is this one? They both can't be bronze and if I am ordering over 3000 dollars of merchandise we would like to know what we will end up with. He said and point to the light tan pole. I asked so both umberllas will be this color on both poles not this dark brown. His response yes. I took the time to Google Treasure Garden. They only have the dark brown( bronze on website) and not the light tan available for order any longer. He again said you will get this one and pointed to the light tan. At this point I did not trust this salesman and we would probably end up with the dark brown bronze color which is shown on the website. I went over to all the umbrellas in the display and showed him the difference in colors as he made us feel as we were crazy. I even went as far to say do you see what I see. He than said these were all bought this year and this is the color of pole you will get which was the dark brown bronze. I than replied you just said 2 minutes ago we would be getting the light tan. He replied I can't get that color. At this time I said you just lied to me and said we would get the light tan color and now you said we can't get that color. Which is it here? All he wanted was the sale and we would have been stuck with a he said she said situation. You can't call both of those poles bronze when one is tan and one is a dark brown bronze. Come on people is this really what customer service is these days. We left and will...
Read moreWe've been coming to the Ames/WDM area for fours years visiting our daughter as a student and now as a member of the DesMoines business community and always look for interesting places to shop, sometimes only for ideas. In any event, Fireplace Superstore caught our eye in March and we made a U-turn and stopped in to look around at their very inviting store. Please remember, we had nothing on a shopping list whatsoever, however upon entering the store, we were stunned (greatly impressed) with everything on their floor. We were approached by a very nice lady offering assistance but we declined as we simply stated we were not looking for anything, just looking around.
We have a very nice enclosed porch adjoining our family room and deck and while it shows pretty nice, some members of our family (canines) have taken liberties with our furniture. Immediately, our minds are thinking 'upgrade'. In a matter of minutes, we were calling out to each other, 'look at this, look at that'.
Cecilia reappeared and began offering suggestions and options and in short order the whole thing came together. Understand, we are an older couple and control freaks. We know what we like and what we don't like. When spending any sum of money, we want to end up with something we are really proud of and Cecilia made it happen, every step of the way. It was as if she knew our home, our tastes and she brought it all together flawlessly. As we moved to pricing, upholstery and cushion details, she kept going forward with great communication as well as decorating ideas. She was at the top of her game when it came to swatches and tying it all together.
This wasn't done in just one visit, but as a retired sales representative, I can attest to the superb attention to detail Fireplace Superstore and especially Cecilia provided us, her professionalism, knowledge and experience made us feel the grouping we were purchasing was going to give us pleasure in ownership and longevity.
We have our new furniture in our possession and love it. I know if we ever have an issue related to our purchase, Fireplace Superstore will be there for us. After having learned the name of the manufacturer, I'm sure we could have purchased the same goods closer to home. But there is no doubt in our minds the purchase experience could not have been as good as what we...
Read moreHorribly rude customer service. We took in a small group of well behaved adults with special needs, as the staff had never been in the store and was curious to look around. We were not greeted once and I’ll add that the store was empty except for one other couple walking around. Instead an older man who was working was intensely staring at us the entire time. He even moved forward and was leaning over a chair to stair at us more. My coworker pointed it out and I looked at him and he harshly turned because I caught him and started staring back at him. We felt so uncomfortable that we had to leave after only looking through For five mins. People with special needs are not circus animals as he seemed to treat them. Most little kids we come across in the community show more respect than he did. The employees here need to take some courses on basic human decency. If you are disabled and in a wheel chair do not bother coming to this store because there is not an automatic door opener and they will probably just stand inside and stare at you too instead of helping you get inside.
Edit- now that I no longer work for the company I did at the time I can FINALLY write this. This company had the audacity to figure out who I worked for and contacted them because of my review. They had them make my boss confront me about this reveiw and tell me they wanted me to take it down because it makes their company look bad! (My boss thought it was super weird too by the way.)
Absolutely disgusting behavior. Trying to get me in trouble with my job which they couldn’t do because of a PERSONAL REVEIW my friends and I put together to share our experience of Something that happened While we happened to be on the job. I still can’t believe it all...
