Five Star Pawn — Local services in Utica

The best Pawn Shop I've ever walked into, and by far the best I've ever worked with! I like to browse pawn shops, used car lots, and used book stores when I travel, and in my experience Five Star Pawn is in a class of their own.

I've been in high end 'gold & jewelry exchange' type shops as well as some hardcore inner city shops everywhere from Virginia to NYC, DC, Alabama, Florida, Nevada, and California, and probably others I can't remember. Some places are run by folks who are just plain liars and crooks, while others are generally clueless, and most seem to be a little less than honest.

But when I walked into Five Star and told them what another shop had offered me for some older jewelry, they took the time to check it out carefully and offered me 25% more. Keep in mind, they could have simply said "we'll beat their offer by $10" and I would have taken that rather than drive down to god-awful Warren again, but they offered a much better price that fairly matched the value of the items.

In less than ten minutes, the paperwork was done and I walked out cash in hand. You can bet that next time I'll save the trouble of driving all over the place, and will head directly to...

This is by far my best experience! Very nice professional and knowledgeable in this business. Very accommodating and respectful. Their Humbleness and empathy is unbelievable. You are made to feel understood and no matter your personal life struggle, they remain poised and humble throughout the process. You feel at home the moment you walk through the door! Start to nice faces and they are immediately at your service. Always a family and friend’s atmosphere. Practically compared to a barbershop/hangout. I ya kinda get the feeling they’re going to start services burgers and brats right off the grill! lol Who knows they may start firing up the grill out back to serve their customers! It Sounds like a pretty good idea!

Unbelievable. I decided that I wanted to sell my MacBook Pro after I had wiped it, but we decided not to continue a transaction. The encounter was corgial though and the man seemed very friendly.

However, when I took it back home I realized that my computer was locked and wasn't accessible! I called the Apple Store and said that the only way that could have happened is if someone other than me made another account! The only person to have even looked at my Mac after I had it wiped was him after I went back to my car to get another item to sell. Now I have to take it back to the Apple Store!

This is absolutely absurd. There's no other explanation. I never thought a business would treat someone like this. Spare yourself the trouble and...
