I like to shop local and normally, as a rule, I only write good reviews… but I was really offended from the moment I walked through the door. Literally, as I walked through the door, the crazy department store security thing loudly beeped. No big deal, except that the woman behind the counter insinuated that I had stole something from ANOTHER store and brought it into her store… she asked what I had in my pockets and asked to cut the security tags off my coat. I’ve owned my coat for years. I shouldn’t have to explain that. It was rude, jarring, and frankly, bizarre to the point of craziness. Ruined my good mood. I won’t ever return. There’s nothing special about this place and indie indie bang bang is just up the street.
Edit: obviously I cannot access or post the footage from your security cameras. In my recollection, the accusations came from the blonde woman with shoulder length hair. I’m guessing that’s you. Making it seem as though it was your employee is a little disingenuous. And yes, I bought $3 stickers. I shouldn’t have. I felt I needed to prove I wasn’t there to steal. I’m not used to being labeled a criminal at first glance. I understand that’s a privilege I walk through the world with as a white lady in my late 30’s. That feeling sucks and it took me by surprise. But my obligatory purchase of stickers does not make the way I was treated okay and your attempt to frame it that way is not cool either. I shop regularly in downtown Valparaiso and I have not been in any other stores that immediately treat its customers as potential criminals. Your apology is boarder line inaccurate and...

They have fresh coffee, which seems to be a popular item. A gentleman was purchasing two kinds of coffee during my visit. He told me their coffee is delicious. This two story store offers baby items, clothing, garden items, awesome chimes, jewelry, readers, as well as numerous other items you will not see anywhere else. The owner and staff are lovely ladies! I definitely plan to revisit, and suggest you stop by and find your new treasure! I give Lifestyles-The Gallery 5 stars out of five! Handicapped accessible entry, and free curbside parking are two of...
Read moreOwner, or the older lady up front, was rude to my friend and never let her explain herself. Called cops on her when the problem could have been easily resolved in store. Honestly, I understand what seemed like what was happening, but never gave my friend a chance to explain herself, took my friend’s wallet out of her hand without asking and held onto it (not legally allowed to do that) without giving it back to her personally. Then proceeded to decide to press charges when my friend literally said it was an accident (which it was) over a bracelet that was $10, all of which my friend offered to pay for the bracelet after a huge misunderstanding. Even the cop that was called in thought it was a little...
