My friend and I visited last weekend for one of the free Saturday afternoon tours that the museum promotes on Facebook. Overall, I was impressed and the tour guide did a great job! She was friendly and guided us throughout each gallery space. She explained specific artifacts and answered any questions we had. We learned some Porter County history, were taught about a few Porter County artists, and were told some unique stories about the artifacts that surrounded us. The tour guide really held my attention the entire time and was knowledgeable about everything that was on display! Everything on display was equally as entriguing and well explained. I am looking forward to visiting again and seeing the new exhibitions when they switch things around again! 10/10 highly recommend, whether you're a local or visiting from out of town. It's a great place to explore, expand your education on local arts and history, all wrapped up in one space! Not only was our tour free, but we also got to pick out a fun button pin at the end! We then meandered on over to Market on 12, just across the street. I'll be writing them a positive Google...
Read moreWhat a great local museum here in Valparaiso. Some areas of the museum the artwork or museum artifacts that many times are donated by the local families share the history of our community. Do you have memorialblia from your grandparents or great grandparents you could donate? The current exhibition is on the small train line connecting Valparaiso to Chesterton over 100 years ago. Beautiful display. Sound effects make it life like. See the exhibit before it closes this winter. Curator is very nice and can answer your questions. Even listen to your recollection of the history of Valparaiso and Porter...
Read moreA wonderful gem you don't want to miss! I'm usually not very taken by museums but I was delightfully surprised at the variety of things they had on display here. The docent was very friendly and knowledgeable as well which enhanced the experience. Overall it's great place to spend an afternoon for families or anyone interested in art or history, and their rotating displays mean there will always be something new to come back for. I plan on visiting here regularly from now on, I only wish I'd found out...
