I went here for the first time yesterday with my partner! We both enjoyed the Nova Lox on an Everything Bagel and Iced London Fogs w/ Lavender Syrup. Both were very good~ the place overall was nice and the staff was friendly, a little stuffy in the cafe and the sofas were messy… not enough that I wouldn’t go back, just maybe next time I would do takeout over eating inside. My only real complaint tbh is that the bathroom is small, like being in a tiny closet and it’s very dirty/old. It smelt bad like pee and someone decided they wanted to use the bathroom all over the toilet and the wall, it was on the floor and smelt so horrible I just walked out and had to go somewhere else to use the bathroom. It wasn’t busy and it’s such a small place, the bathroom should be looked after maybe a little better? I think the bathroom in this place needs work and maybe cleaning the sofas wouldn’t hurt, they’re a little musty and has stains. Otherwise the staff, drinks, and food were good and I’ll go back for those things.

My absolute favorite cafe in town. I love Uptown and Fluid too, but this place absolutely SERVES in the food department. Every food item I have had from this place has been absolutely wonderful. Their roasted veggie/portabella and goat cheese sandwich has to be one of my favorite sandwiches in town. You just HAVE to try it! Their broccoli and cheddar quiche (not pictured) was the first one I ever had and it was spectacular as well. Additionally, I have had their nutella streudel (which was basically a nutella pop-tart but with puff pastry) and it was absolutely divine. The coffee is pretty good as well and they a good variety of syrup flavors to choose from (my favorite is the Torani sugar free caramel :) ). This is absolutely one of my go-to places in Valpo and heavily recommended for anyone who visits (not to mention it's right downtown too!).

If this review is helpful please give it a thumbs up to help encourage me to do more reviews. Ready-To-Drink TEMPERATURE!! First local business visit in Valpo. This coffee shop was mentioned by a local. So we decided to make a visit! Parking was a concern until we notice the Lincoln Way public parking that is across the intersection. The initial impression of Blackbird Cafe was welcoming, clean and open. Their service was top-notch. We ordered a Carmel Macchiato. They prepared the beverage to in two fashions and allowed us to choose our preference. The desserts looked amazing. Initially we had some concerns of the shelf-age, with their high frequency of customer flow. The said concern was quickly dismissed. The Carmel Macchiato was made perfectly and was delicious.

I've always loved getting their apple pie chai, so I stopped in to get one and a chocolate chip cookie. The cookie was amazing.. but the apple pie chai? After waiting 20 minutes, I recieved the "apple pai chai" and it tasted very off. It tasted like it had waayy too much Nutmeg or something. They begrudgingly asked if I wanted them to remake it, and I apologized and said yes with only a little Nutmeg this time. The lady who handed the remade drink to me said "this doesn't have any Nutmeg in it". Another employee informed me they changed the way they make it. I said thanks and walked out, not wanting to be in there any longer. The drink tasted even worse than before, and I definitely won't be ordering it again. It's a shame, because that's the only drink there that I liked. Also, I understand that it was busy but there were 4 additional employees in the back and the two employees in the front were struggling to keep up. Basically, it was a long wait for disappointment and a...
