I want to share an impressive customer service experience I witnessed while shopping at the Aldi store on Belleville Rd in Belleville, Michigan on Monday, October 2nd:
There was an elderly woman in an amigo-style cart that was interested in some shoes they had. An employee was very patiently pulling boxes off the top shelf looking for her size and helping her try them on. It was taking quite a bit of time. Mind you I understand this is not a shoe store, usually there wouldn't be an employee to help you try on shoes. I thought it was amazingly thoughtful of the employee to be willing to help even though this isn't really her job. A line started to form at the checkout so she left the woman and checked out 2 people super fast to help with the line. Then the line was gone and she immediately went back to help the woman. Her efficient service and multi-tasking deserves commendation. I don't know her name but I know from the experience that she will know who she is if it's shared with the staff from that store. She is there almost every time I shop and she is one of my favorite employees and cashiers. I love to be in her line because she is always pleasant. (I don't have a least favorite though, they've all...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreAldi's are my favorite stores for groceries. They don't accept coupons and you should bring a few bags so you won't need to purchase them at checkout, which could be anywhere between $.07- $1.99, and bring a quarter for a shopping cart, which you get back once returned. I've been to pretty much every Aldi within a 30 mile radius, as I've lived all over the metro area, and this is one of the nicest I've had the pleasure of shopping at. Though most of their stores are very clean and well stocked and maintained, the newness of this location gives it a nice shine, the employees are very pleasant and helpful, and the shelves were STOCKED full... a great sign of high turnover product which means better quality and freshness. Most groceries here are $2-6 less per item then you can purchase at other stores, it's actually astonishing how low the price can go, and there were many affordable vegan options as well. This place is a major hit. The town is probably super happy to finally get good deals on their food....
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI love the selection of organic, gluten free and other hard to find foods. The prices are generally great. I also enjoy the non food products they offer. Bring your own bags or buy them at the store.
My only complaint is regarding checkout. Several of the checkout people are rude, haphazardly throw my products into the cart damaging the packaging or crushing the product, complain or sigh when I ask for a wipe for the handle of the shopping basket used to load my groceries at checkout (not the same basket I shopped with), and are impatient as I gather my things and return my wallet to my purse before leaving the checkout line. This all leaves me feeling badly about my shopping experience, which was pleasant until I got to checkout. Whatever happened to...
