My friend was visiting from the far destination of New Jersey, and we had to take her to Main Street in Ventura. We saw Brooklyn Charm, and walked in immediately. This store is just adorable; there are so many charms, chains, and great gift ideas. The first occurring “red-flag” when was no employee came to talk to us until we asked to get some string cut. An employee, about 4’10” with curly brown hair, made the most atrocious and degrading comments we have ever faced in our shopping history. Not only this, but when asking for clarification, we got multiple eye rolls from this employee. When this employee made our custom necklaces, she took over 25 minutes, when she initially said it would only take 10. This wouldn’t normally be an issue, but as a well-known, trusted, and popular jewelry maker on Depop myself, I am 100% sure she could’ve sped the process up. She took so long to concoct the necklaces because she did not like our personas. We were so kind and genuine, but her actions were unprofessional and petty. Our day was instantly ruined by these actions, and it ruined my friends vacation experience. We expected such nice service from a cute place like this. It makes me so happy when I can give my business to small stores like Brooklyn Charm, but when employees act in this manner, it makes the experience completely unenjoyable. Very disappointed. Do better,...
Read moreMy daughter loves this place and always drives from Laguna to get permanent jewelry rings. This time I joined her and felt one of the two employees was being rather snappy towards my daughter. After the employee discouraged her from buying another chain and spending $20 on a pre-made ring, my daughter went back after about 20 mins and asked to exchange it for one that was more comfortable. There was one employee who was super pleasant and helpful. My daughter was very happy to find a ring that fit her finger more comfortably and that she chose herself. As she was walking away, the snappy employee said, "Tips are greatly appreciated," and when my daughter continued walking, she said, "I take that as a no." I think this is absolutely uncalled for, unprofessional, and unacceptable. How dare you suggest a tip after the cost of this ring. I think that it is so disgusting to put a guilt trip on someone for buying a product. Yes, the exchange was a nice gester. However, this was not custom and way overpriced to begin with. We know tips are appreciated. You have it posted ALL over the store. My tip to you, be professional and grateful for business. If you need to price your products higher to offset tips, then do so. Don't be rude as you lost all of...
Read moreWho dis Brooklyn Charm!? An old favorite revisited and never disappoints! I was a little worried when they went viral that they would lose their OG small shop vintage feel. Not at all; in fact it seems better than ever! I was taking my friend to the airport the other day and we stopped on the way out to make some matching bracelets. After we left, we realized we had forgotten a really important compass charm that we wanted to include in our bracelets. There was no time to turn around unless my friend wanted to miss her flight. By the time I passed back through (I live 90 miles north of Ventura), it was too late. I called the store the next day and they sorted me all out with shipping and gave some pointers on adding the charm to our bracelets. We both got them today and now the world makes sense again. I have another friend coming next month and I’m planning to stop in with her too. I just have to be careful they don’t both find out that I’m a serial BFF charm bracelet maker 😬 Either way, the experience is what I love most about the shop, and if my friends find out my secret, at least everyone had fun while our friendships were...
