This is the second time I've attempted to give this a try . The first time was when it first opened . My friend and I were in downtown , saw this place had opened and wanted to try it . We went in and it was 10 mins before closing and we both wanted lattes. The 2 baristas both informed us that they already closed the machines and only have hot coffee left . It's 10 mins before closing mind you , I asked seriously? The one barista just shrugged it off and could careless , I was so shocked at lack of service by this and we left and found another great coffee shop.
Fast forward to today , my husband and I went in there because he loves the coffee there, we ordered our coffees , with the nice mature lady there who was very sweet and had a warm welcoming. I was thinking this may turn my opinion around about this place. They called our name and the coffee were ready , I made eye contact with the young man working and under my breath I said thank you , now I speak very low and they may not have heard it . I went to grab lids foe both of them , and in the corner of my eye this short girl with her hair in a bun , just says in a very condescending tone "your welcome " , at this point she's laughing and the other younger guy is also laughing as well. I make eye contact with her , and abruptly she stops laughing and starts to walk away and starts to laugh again. At this point I'm so appalled by this and that this action just happened I've lost all interest in my coffee and we start to walk out. I can see both the baristas talking and looking as we leave . I was only able to enjoy 1 sip of my coffee and after that I'm sorry service is key and so is energy , and if I'm being honest I didn't wanna drink a cup of coffee from a place that just displayed that type of service. So I ended up throwing away the coffee in the trash outside of the store.
I'm a local and live a mile away from this place and know many of the local coffee shops I frequent down here. For this level of service to happen a 2nd time in the same place ( mind you first time I can forgive , because I was young once I know last minute customers and prepping early to leave early ) but I will never tolerate blatant rude workers like what I experienced today . Never again will I come back , I will take my business to singing sun , prospect , Humble maker coffee from now on where the level of service and coffee...
Read moreNicholas is the owner, he hand delivered my father’s favorite breakfast dish and tea to the Ventura Medical Center. September 2nd, about fifteen days ago, we found out my dad had stage 4 colon cancer. So just the smallest gesture means so much to my family.
The food is incredible. I’m sure everyone already knows that. They’re the best food you can get on Main street; fresh homemade food can’t be beat. But besides the amazing flavors and care into every dish, Nicholas cooked my dad his breakfast and drove it to him in the hospital.
That is just so kind. My dad’s favorite breakfast is the masala omelet. He also likes the cardamom chai tea.
How sweet! I just want everyone to know. Please go visit Kaapicat and help them stay on Main St. and pay the crazy rent and fees you have to cough up to have a business there. They’re good people and the food, well, it’s pretty...
Read moreFound this place the first time totally on accident while on a hunt for coffee. Found amazing coffee but so, so, so much more. When we saw dosa on the menu we got so excited and it was delicious. We have now been back (driving two hours to get there) and had a chance to try almost everything else on the menu. Don’t be afraid to try something new and the staff will be more than willing to explain, just ask! Their South Indian items are deliciously spicy and authentic and their South Indian twist on California items like chicken and waffles will make you only want this version forever more. The chef and his mother in law are also wonderful people. If you go anywhere else in Ventura instead of here you will be missing...
