The Refill Shoppe — Local services in Ventura

Ordered online and had a tough time exchanging a custom scent. Highly recommend to try the samples before ordering online since I’m not in love with the scents I got. I do appreciate that they are natural and healthier option for fragrance. Shipping is fast.

The scents & service: The vanilla roller I ordered is an okay scent, I wear it at night since it isn’t strong or the best smelling vanilla I own. My custom roller one was a mess scent wise (which is not their fault) but had a hard time getting an exchange. Had to call a few times and they do take a while to respond to emails. The owner Michelle was a little combative the first time we spoke and made me feel bad. She did agree to the exchange if I paid for shipping back and was nicer the second time we spoke on the phone. It took about 3 weeks going back and forth when I received the replacement scent roller, pear scent, I can’t say I love the smell either and the consistency is different than the vanilla roller I have, more watery..

So my verdict is to just go in person if you live nearby refill shoppe or visiting. If you order online try out their samples before making an order since the exchange situation is not the smoothest.

The smells are okay, but honestly I’ve learned not to order perfumes online. I’ll probably just use these at night or to layer.

Customer service was decent and I do appreciate them taking the time to do an exchange for me. As a small business I understand...

UPDATE: The owner's combative response to my original review only further confirms my suspicion that environmental sustainability is not the primary goal of this establishment. And that's fine. It's a nice luxury boutique with upscale products -- it's just not a practical refill store, and will therefore have very little, if any, real ecological impact. But I suppose it's on me for assuming that was the owner's main objective in the first place.

ORIGINAL REVIEW: It’s a good store if you can afford it. But if they TRULY cared about the environment and reducing plastic waste, they’d make their refill services affordable to more people — because right now they’re extravagantly expensive for the average household. Unfortunately this type of eco-hypocrisy is too infuriating for me to ignore, so while their products are good, the second I find a more inclusive option, this place will be losing...

My fiance and I stumbled into this shop earlier today and had a wonderful time shopping and talking to the lady behind the counter.

I ended up purchasing some after sun spray for my my sun burn. I have only been able to spray my arms as I've been out shopping all day but I can definitely say that my arms are feeling much better by the end of the day, but my legs are still burning. My fiance got some of their beard oil (with custom scent) and he is loving the way his beard is feeling. We also got other products but those are all we have been able to use today and I have no doubt we will love the rest.

I love the concept of this place and the prices are very reasonable for hand made lotions and fragrances and I'm very excited I can get it all refilled. And I love knowing exactly what is in the product that I'm putting on my skin
