Calico Cat Bookshop — Local services in Ventura

I need to write this review because of the people that run this store are some of the most amazing people I have ever gotten to know. My ability to write and read the owners played a huge part in when I was just a young boy. My grandmother Sally took me here to be tutored. I learned a love for literature that I still hold very close to my heart this day. Thank you for helping me so much and I am glad that you already have such kind and wonderful reviews on google when I came to write this. It's a fun bookstore with a fantastic selection of classic books and rare prints the owners hunt all over to collect and put on display for purchase. Thank you so much for the gift of learning you have given me, as well as showing me such a wonderful outlet in tutoring me to be creative with writing poetry that I still use to...

Unfortunately we did not have a tremendous amount of time to browse there so I did not stockpile anything to buy, but the collection of books here is incredible! There is such a wide range of books to choose from there, from classic literature, bird-watching, art, and even cookbooks for various styles of cuisine; this place seems to have it all. All of the books there are in really good condition so the average $6 - $12 or so for an average sized book is very reasonable! The owner (or at least the man working the floor) was very friendly and helpful to customers. Next time I am in Ventura I will stop by here...

Lovely owner was very kind and offered helpful suggestions for us to pick out a good book for our two-year-old. She seemed knowledgeable even of books in my husband's hobby area (physics!). Found a great book on jazz piano that hasn't seemed easy to find online. We got the impression from our visit that the reason for this store is more a love of books than a business....
