We visited main Street in Ventura for the first time since the pandemic began. It was great to see the street blocked off to traffic and used instead for extended outdoor seating for dining and distanced walking.

We chose to have dinner at MidiCi Wood Fired Pizza after reviewing the menus of several other restaurants on main Street. We are vegetarian and this restaurant had the best menu selection and suitably distant seating outdoors.

We ordered two grilled vegetarian pizzas, which are thin crust and wood-fired. We make pizza at home, including the crust, and this crust and pizza was much better than we can make at home. The wood-fired crust was beautifully charred underneath and not soggy. The grilled vegetable toppings, including mushrooms, red and yellow peppers and spinach, were flavorful, and the cheeses used on the pizza complimented it very well without overpowering it. My three-year-old son could not shovel it into his mouth fast enough. We also had 805 draft beer with our pizzas. Each pizza is considered larger than one person can eat, but likely not enough for two. My son ate two slices and my wife and I still brought home one large slice between the two pizzas that we ordered.

The menu is varied and will suit many tastes, including both vegetarian and non-vegetarian appetizers, salads, sandwiches and pizzas. I highly recommend you give MidiCi Wood Fired...

Customer Service is awful. Waited in line for over 20 minutes, 5 in our party and about 6-7 in the party in front of us. As we are standing and waiting in what is obviously the line to order, a young couple in their 20's walks in and walks around the whole line, right up to the register. They ask for a menu which should have been a clue to the cashier that they were not in the line waiting to order, but she gave them one anyway and then continued to take their order. I went to the couple and showed them the line of people waiting to order and that they had just cut in front of everyone and they couldn't care less...totally ignored me. I also notified the cashier that people were walking around the line and going straight to her to order and she couldn't care less either. Needless to say we left and went across the street to Snapper Jacks which was awesome and a much better choice. As we left downtown, we walked past Medici's and saw the people that were behind us in line still waiting for their food and it had been at least an hour. This is my second time trying Midici's and both times were bad. Never going...

Place was empty, but so was most of Ventura the night we were there, passing through. We did see one woman walking through the restaurant a couple of times with a baby in some kind of contraption that looked like she was holding a marionette. I think she was a relative of someone who worked there, so you might see her and Marionette Baby if you go. Being one vegan and one vegetarian and they don't have vegan cheese, we had to order our pizza half and half. Cheese/No cheese. It was ok, if a little on the small size for two people, we were still hungry afterwards, I guess we should have ordered a larger size. The basil leaves on the pizza were not chopped up, they were full-sized leaves. Pretty to look at, but hard to eat. Can't say the pizza was bad, but I've certainly had much, much better elsewhere. This was mediocre and a little undercooked. Oh, they also don't give you napkins unless you go up to the counter and ask for them. Wouldn't go out of my way to try this place again, but we did like walking up and down Main Street, which is pedestrian-only now. And I did enjoy seeing...

I came here late at night, one of the only food places open in downtown, and I was blown away I had never ventured here before. To say the pizza was amazing is an understatement, it's easily affordable and comes in huge slices with SO many options. The staff was so friendly and quick to offer suggestions based on your liking. They even took the time to share about the history of the restaurant and their beautiful wood fire oven that came from Italy! Everything is authentic and the whole inside is beautiful with sweet messages about friendship and getting to know the strangers around you. Mind you many people come in here drunk, being rude to the staff and leaving the place a mess. Yet they are so kind to them and are quick to clean up spills and genuinely check in on their well being. This place felt safe and very welcoming. I will be making this my #1 pizza spot in Ventura.
