This location employs and protects and obviously racist staff member named Rob. We were visiting a resident here recently. This employee was enforcing a policy they had in their outdoor smoking area (which we were unaware of since we are from out-of-state), and we were happy to comply immediately. However, he was very aggressive. When he approached, we immediately asked if we broke a rule or should go somewhere else because we did not want to cause any issues. He ignored questions about whether a policy had been violated as he interrogated us. He also aggressively asked a pointed question in a raised voice – "do you you work here?" – at the only black person in the group, no one else. He seemed pretty glad to scare a group of 3 women. We complied with his request, of course. We spoke with the manager the day it happened and asked for an apology for his behavior – she later said she would follow up as that was not possible today.
The manager did an "investigation," then followed up. She made it clear over the phone that she found no issues with his behavior whatsoever. While the manager was "concerned" the day it happened, her follow up was callous, uncaring, and even sounded bored as she listened to how this experience impacted us. So disappointed I won't be able to visit this location any longer and feel safe – knowing someone like that is still lurking around. Do better Rob. Do better Brookdale management. Take some accountability and treat ALL people like humans. Not just the ones who...

Read moreCan you give negative stars? I was there 3 days over Thanksgiving and the lack of care my mother (who is on the first floor in the dementia ward) received was alarming. Her hair was filthy, dandruff was coming off of her like it was snowing. The staff said she missed a shower- that does not open with one missed shower. They didn’t wipe her off when she soiled herself, they did not clean her face or give her prompts to brush her teeth at bedtime. They stuffed her deceased roommates soiled linens and other items in her closet. There was feces on the wall and floor of the bathroom as well as on her items. They use Purell to clean hands instead of soap and water- my mother had feces on her hands! They can’t keep her clothes separate from other residents clothing. They lost several pairs of her shoes. I did raise complaints and was never responded to. They instead told my sibling that they would be implementing changes. I was back at Christmas and now my mom has holes in her teeth. This is bad but worse for me (and my mother) no one on the staff thought that was important to tell us. I do not believe they are giving her prompts or helping her with tasks of day to day living. This place is horrible. If you want your loved one treated with dignity and respect...
