American Mattress — Hotel in Vernon Hills

My husband and I stopped in to “window shop” for a mattress on Friday. We fell in love with 3 different matresses. Bob Palka helped us and no matter how long we stayed in that store, he never pressured us and always gave my husband and I time to talk and think! Due to COVID we all shop in different way but Bob made us comfortable from the very beginning! He is very nice, knowledgeable, and chill! My husband and I were very indecisive because this is such a big decision. We had a very bad experience with our last mattress. Bob was very kind even though we could not decide what mattress to buy. We narrowed it down to the Black Beauty rest and Tempuredic. We came back that evening right before they were about to close and Bob assured us it was ok that he wanted to Give us time to figure out what we wanted to do. We promised to come back the next day. We went to a few other store and did not find another Salesperson like Bob. We knew we would buy from him! We even visited the Tempuredic store and felt like we knew we were going back to bob.He offered the best deal, better than the actual Tempur-Pedic store. This store is locally owned and we wanted to support that! Finally we came back the next day and ended up buying the Tempuredic ProAdapt SOFT. I’m sure we made the right decision going with the Tempur-Pedic but it was hard to decide between the SOFT and the medium HYBRID. Bob assured if we don’t like it after 120 days we can exchange it! Bob made this experience so much better. We will hopefully only buy our mattresses from Him...

Well, that good review didn’t last long. American Mattress was supposed to call me the day before my delivery and never did. When I called to ask about the timeframe, they told me there was a delay and that they would be in touch the next week. Still, no one called me. I called again to follow up, and they told me it would be at least another week. They also kept saying how it was out of their control. Today, we found out that the mattress is actually an older version that may be sold out and that the order was never actually placed. So . . . you took my money, never communicated, and lied about the issue? And this is how you treat repeat customers? The corporate manager, Eric, was outrageously rude and took no accountability. Please take your business elsewhere.

My wife and I went into American Mattress here in Vernon Hills, wanting and inexpensive mattress for our guest room. Bob Palka helped us with the sale. He didn't attempt to upsell or talk us into something we didn't need. He totally understood what we wanted, told us about the three or four best alternatives to fit our needs and let us make the decision.

Then, most important, the process took a minimal amount of our time, the price was competitive and delivery was scheduled for the next day.

The time window was two hours and we were told the time the afternoon prior to delivery. The folks met that time almost exactly in the middle, letting us know 10 minutes prior to delivery.

The delivery folks were great. They were careful not to damage any paint or walls they were professional and quick.
